The dam in question is about 150 miles northeast of me, but it's a big deal for the residents within a hundred miles of there.
For years and years, authorities have known that dam was weakening. Now they're in panic mode and have erected emergency patches to try to keep it from bursting and flooding thousands of people. Kinda pisses me off.
Anyway, I hope the recent patches can withstand the storm that's just setting in. After 5 gorgeous sunny days, it's raining like cats and dogs again and expected to continue for a while.

I've read about this dam and I would be scared shitless if I lived in the vicinity. I had heard that some citizens had been allowed to return and I'm not so sure I would have if I were one of them. It's so irresponsible of those in charge to let it get to this point. I hope the patches are stable enough to hold up.
