Should there be fitness guidelines for LEO's? By that I mean should there be weight limits, a healthy weight guideline for one's height because a couple hundred pounds on someone 5' is waaaay different than the same weight on someone 6'2".

I think there should, but its not going to happen. A lot of people want their cops to look like "Regular" people. A couple years back there was a big flap in S Fla about tattoos on cops are, Lots of those guys work out a lot and it intimidated supposedly a lot of civilians. I don't think that the public has swung back the other way, Planet fitness is all about a non threatening non intimidating environment and they seem to be flourishing.

I was moved to ask that after seeing a hugely overweight LEO. This was more than 20-30 lbs, it was more like 100 lbs overweight. This person couldn't have run out of a room let alone down a street chasing a bad guy.

I really feel that Dutchess is being a bit harsh, I could almost guarantee he could run especially if free donuts were mentioned.

My pops had to do a yearly refresher which included a challenging obstacle course and shootout scenarios with rubber bullets. Not sure if they still do that or not?

Most towns accept what they can get for the salary they offer. If not there would be no seat warmers in the vehicles. Just manikins faking out speeders.

I wasn't being harsh, Mork.
