FLU SHOTS

Have any of you gotten a flu shot? If not, are you opposed to them? Have you had the flu this season?

I got a flu shot for the first time this year and it gave me a little cold, after that I've been fine.

I didn't get a flu shot and I'm becoming very paranoid about that after hearing about all the otherwise healthy people dying.

My family and I have gotten the flu shot every year for the past 8 years, and none of us has ever gotten the flu.

Sure, we’ve had colds, but never the flu.

I had the Norovirus last January. Sickest I've ever been in my life. Yuk! I would get motion sickness when I did nothing more than lift my head off the pillow and during it all I was having bizarre dreams about dead loved ones. I never want to be sick like that again!

Get the Flu shot!

Better to be safe than sorry! Don't press your luck. I know 3 people that got the Flu! One of them my SIL,
he did not get the shot. He usually does, this year he was too busy to get it!

Me and mine get the Flu shot every year, none of us have ever gotten the Flu!

No, I had flu symptoms one time which was a few years ago and it sucked for a couple of days, but not bad enough to get a shot.

It's not something I've ever really worried about. I don't know, is it mutating into something stronger, are our immune systems weakening? And exactly how healthy are these people that are dying from it? I know they claim to be otherwise healthy, but do we know their complete medical history? And out of all the people who die from it, how many did get a flu shot?

I have not gotten a flu shot since 1978 and probably will not get another one.
The flu shot that is out this year is not for the same strain that is going around this year so the shot is near useless. On top of that the flu that is going around is a pretty nasty one and the shot does not work for it.
I got some kind of a respiratory bug mid dec and just last week was symptom free, it was nasty but I don't think it was a flu

I can't answer any of those questions and whenever I start reading about the deaths I get hungup on the stories that state another otherwise healthy person has died. Those headlines freak me out! I never used to pay attention to this shit because I'm a healthy person.

My brother is a 25 year ER nurse and my son is a Dr that works in several hospitals around the Dallas area. They are both telling me the same thing I am reading buried in the details when the media bothers to post any. Most of the people that are dieing are already very unhealthy people. Old, Fat, COPD, non compliant diabetics and a lot of them got their flu shot while they were in the hospital for something else and then contracted the flu either while in the hospital or while in the dr's office with all the other sick folks. The takeaway is stay away from sick people, don't be a fat ass and a smoker.

In the news it was said, a "12" year old "healthy" boy died from the Flu!

Been reading, a lot of kids are diving as well as old people. They are the typical victims of H3N2. Some got the shot and some didn't. The shot they got was for H1N1, both are Influenza A, but different strains. There is apparently no cross over benefit to the vaccine from one to the other. The folks at the CDC and the makers of the vaccine are shooting at a moving target. They have to do predictions of which virus is going to express months ahead of the actual outbreak in order to get a vaccine made and distributed

Sounds like you had a mild reaction, but the flu shot doesn't make anyone sick.

I get one every year because they're free and I figure even if it isn't the right flu, at least it's a little protection from catching a second flu.

My Grandmother used to tell me we have fewer germs because the ground freezes and kills a lot of them in the winter.

Most viruses can't live outside of their host for more than 15 minutes, the longest a virus has ever lived outside of it's host is 24 hours. It's also a fact that they don't do well in the cold so Granny knows whats up.
