Are you having a barbecue? Are fireworks sold in your state?
I have a yen for strawberry shortcake. I saw one and I was like Pavlov's dog.

Going to Saratoga in the morning to watch the race, parade and win a doughboy eating contest. Then going to Empire State Plaza in the afternoon. to see Smashmouth and Fireworks.
And yes fireworks are sold in my state. I've shot some off 2 times already. I just picked up some more today which I'll shoot off on the 6th or 7th.

Middle of the week this year, kind of a pita. Being a contractor I don't get paid for not working, so sticking in close and working the rest of the week. Babysitting the grandkids all week too. We do have fireworks, but this year its dry and dangerous, but we will likely catch one of the put on shows wed evening. Always have something going on the grill

I learned that the construction workers and contractors with the company I work for will have M-W off because they are working in a vacation resort development and vacationers will not want to hear the sound of trucks, plus safety reasons. Us in the office will take W off and maybe F for a 3 day weekend after the 4th. (We don't get paid either) July 4th is my absolute favorite holiday. There will be 2 firework shows this week. 1 on the 4th and 1 on the 7th. I don't know what else happens in this town for the holiday so I will find out. My parking lot will be a great place to watch the show on the 7th. I can drive into town for the show on the 4th or watch from across the lake.

As an avowed pyromaniac I love the 4. We live in a no firework area due to high fire danger. Normally we just shoot one safe and sane firework in our large backyard, this $70 one. It is beyond ridiculous!
This year we are heading to some type of peninsula/marina in San Diego in a high end hotel that is adjacent to a major firework show, should be epic. (I will still try to buy the firework and do it another time but they sell out quick).

Nice. The handheld fireworks are awesome too. Did one called Blackbeard's Cutlass and Light of Liberty last weekend.

We're planning on just relaxing in the backyard on Wednesday. Barbecue, cocktails, and watching fireworks from the roof.

I can see the firework show the city puts on over the river right from my house. So we'll watch that and probably light off our own fireworks (nothing crazy) and I'll cook smoked ribs, baked beans, potato salad and deviled eggs.
Strawberry shortcake sounds good for dessert, have you tried the Bisquick recipe? That's the one we always used when I was a kid, it's a classic.
