Happy 4th of July, Mockers.
I may eat a charred hotdog and for sure I'm having corn on the cob. What are you eating? Are you doing anything special? I didn't go to a parade because it's hot as fuck but if I can stay awake after dark like a grownup I'm going up on the barn roof and watch fireworks from 3 different directions.

Happy Independence Day Duchess and all.
I bought a house about 2 miles from this rental house; closed escrow last Thursday. We're not moving right away because I'm getting the roof repaired, the pool cleaned, the flooring redone in 4 of the rooms, the stone walkway leveled out, the inside of the house painted, etc.
There's so much to do, but I think it will be a great home for us once it's all done.
Anyway, the new house is heavily landscaped and the sprinkler system there (and here at the rental house) sucks, so I spend 2 hours every morning and 1 hour every night watering. It's been averaging like 105F daily here. Just got the morning rounds done at both places.
We're going to see the latest Anabelle movie later this morning. I'd rather stay home, but my sister is excited and already bought the tickets. So, I'll be watching people freak out over an ugly doll for a couple of hours and then my sister and her husband are coming over to eat (cheeseburgers, ribs, potato salad, strawberry shortcake) and drink too much in/by the pool.
Mom is already two Bloody Marys in, so we're off. The AMC theater near here has the huge cushioned reclining seats. She'll snooze through half the movie, if history repeats, and then be ready to come home and party.

At Hollywood Beach, big fourth of july extravaganza capping off with a firework show. Lots of vendors selling all kinds of food. I recommend the Rachio smart irrigation controller

I'm lounging around watching a horror movie and eating cherries. It's too forking hot to be outside.

Everyone is out having a good time, but not us because my husband is a miserable fuck. I guess I'll just watch a horror movie and eat cherries too. I just bought a big bag of them.

I've been neglecting the backyard so I did plan on trimming and fertilizing the plants and pulling all the weeds, but about 10 minutes into it I said fuck this. It is hotter than the devils dick out there.

One of the easiest ways to become the center of attention.

Yeah, it's one of the few 4 th of Julys I remember really well from when I was a kid. We usually just lit up a few sparklers outside the house, ate strawberry shortcake, and that was it.
I was still in elementary school for the bicentennial; it was such a huge deal.
I remember my dad being jazzed over the bicentennial quarters. He collected a bunch of them.
We went to a party that 4 th of July in my cousin's uncle's garage. He was a massive dude with thick black glasses, a ton of facial hair, and a marijuana leaf tattooed on his forearm, which my dad told me was a palm leaf. I liked him, but we never saw him again after that.
The first time I'd ever played pool and ever heard Pink Floyd and CCR was in his garage that night (I was hooked after that, on the music not the game of pool).

Thanks Biggie.
I'll check it out when I have the budget to get the irrigation system in order (hopefully before next summer).
The house I bought was built in 2005 and the current system is a Hardie. It looks really old school. The system itself might still be alright, but I programmed it and only about 1⁄ 4 of the drippers and sprinkler heads seem to be functional.
