We already have a "plastic" thread but I can't find it...
So, my little town is going to start phasing out plastic bags, right now it's for single use only, I guess to get people used to it, I don't really know nor do I care. I think it's great! Plastic is the debil. Is there a policy like this where you live?

No but the new grocery store here gives you paper bags and if you bring them back with you to re-use them they donate 10 cents per each bag to donate to the charity of your choice.

They charge ten cents a bag in commiefornia, and no plastic straws unless you ask for one.

I think that an awesome incentive! I'd be like you though, forget them at home OR not remember to grab them out of my trunk when I go in.

My daughter reminds me, but not untill we are in line. A little too late for that. I'm concerned that I might be getting early Alzheimer's, but the kid doesn't even remember when we leave for the store.

During my tenure in Ca last winter I got the pleasure of using the environmentally friendly straws. Worst idea ever. Hopefully your town won't go that insane, Duchess. That state is so fucked up....

I like using re-usable shopping bags it is awesome. But then I go through phases where I forget them and all the bags pile up again.
One town near Seattle charges if you need a bag. I make a lot of jokes about it-plus there is a Portlandia episode about it. Like I would take off my boot and put my groceries in there-(not really, just in telling jokes about it)
The annoying thing in that town is that it isn't just the grocery stores-it is ALL of the stores. So a trip to REI and they are like, "Do you want a bag?" Like some re-usable shopping bag isn't going to fit whatever I buy there-or other stores like Best Buy or whatever.

Straws???? This is the most stupid thing I've seen in a long time. Take a look at a six pack unless you cut the plastic up it goes in the ocean. on every single new government job in the country new material is required to be wrapped with this blue saran wrap plastic, ya know why? To give the new buildings a "clean green eco environment" ya know where the plastic goes? yup in the big dumpster. Why did plastic bags become better than paper, when the trees needed saving. Plastic straws..............it reminds me of some nutty egghead that has no clue but has a vendetta about straws. I wonder what company makes straws and which one pissed off some competition.
Until 1992 New York city dumped trash into the ocean. Today we are paying for it by outlawing straws. People sure are nutty, and a little late to the party.

I think I recall HotD posting something about "them" finding sea turtles with straws sticking out through their noses or something like that! (Guess the plastic bottles are too big for them to eat)

Nice to see you, honey. How's Buddy? Buddy doing just fine, as am I. Busy as hell at work, and really don't spend a lot of time on the interwebz these days. I DO make it a point to try and pop in once a week though, just to catch up.

I see you, mister man and I'm glad that you do.
I recently bought a new Christmas tree and I thought of you when I did. I probably will for the rest of my life. Heh.

This is the second one since then. I thought the way yours had white lights AND colored lights was so cool that I bought one that did the same and I loved it for a few years but then I saw a spectacular flocked tree and it made me want one. I'm not puttin' that puppy up in July but when I do I'll post pix and draw your attention to them.
