I took a drive tonight while the sun was setting.
I was reminded that I needed to find a certain building
so I drove down a road and took a right
I saw that the place to the right was private entrance and had barrier arms down, except for the exit, so I went to turn around
as I was turning around I saw these people standing in the grass-as if they were waiting for something?
I went in to my turn, and something made me want to look at these people again-
at first glance I thought they were just getting out of the water, or going to the water and had towels and water toys-like flotation devices,
one of them had the whitest face every, and something looked really odd about it.
THEN
I realized they were lifesize statues. Life size statues standing in the grass, and they were not white at all, but Native Americans-or should I just say, "Statues of Natives" or "first settlers" (Or people we stole the land from). Anyway,
so as I discovered what they were I continued my turn and said outloud, "Man those are some creepy looking statues" from where I was-it was creeepy looking as the sun was setting and looking so life like, but not moving-it is unexpected that there are statues there.
So then I turn my eyes to the small ticket building that is in the middle of the 2 roads-one leading in, one leading out-with the arm up on the exit only.
There is a person inside the ticket booth. This person has on a blue button up shirt and a hat.
I finish my turn, and veer off to the side of the road so perhaps I can park and walk over to the ticket booth to ask some questions.
That person isn't moving either.
It is getting darker.
The ticket booth has no lights on
There is no movement gong on
This person doesn't acknoweledge me at all.
"How rude" I think.
"Just because this is the entrance to some sort of resort, doesn't mean you have to ignore me" adding to my previous thought.
Then I drive out, realizing that it isn't the place I was lookng for anyway.
On my way out I see the field to the left that I had passed previously
Only it isn't a field
It is a graveyard.

I have a real creepy story about a graveyard. There is a cemetery by my house where I walk the dogs. I was walking there with my sister , the dogs and my daughter who was in a stroller at the time. Two guys about in their 40s pull up in a car and one of them jumps out and writes something on the bench with a marker and then drives ahead and stops again and writes something on a head stone. We walk by the bench and I see that he wrote some kind of satanic symbols so I tell my sister to lets start walking the other way before these crazy fucks try to sacrifice us. Then they get in their car and follow us so I ran into someone's yard with the stroller and they rode by and told us to fuck off. That was really weird and scary since I had my 2 year old daughter with me.

Cemeteries never unnerved me until I was an adult. We played hide & seek in one when I was a kid and there was one near my school and a few of us would hangout smoking cigarettes when we cut class and when I was dating a guy in another town we would go parking in one and sometimes go there just to smoke weed. It was a lifetime ago.

I have a graveyard story....
One time when I was out hunting I found an old house foundation in the middle of nowhere. I was walking around looking for anything old when my leg went into the ground a little above my kneecap like it fell into a hole. as I was trying to pull my leg out I noticed an old headstone tipped over and covered with moss. I must have stepped on a grave and the coffin finally rotted enough so my foot broke through as it caved in. Years ago they used to bury family's near the house and called it the family cemetery. I must have found one that was forgotten about. It started to get dark and I just about ran out of there.

Those are creepy stories for sure! I think creepier than mine.
After I drove by the graveyard-which had overgrown grass and weeds and trees-I drove down another road which had the building I was looking for. But I was curious about the booth so I drove back past the graveyard, which again-was only creepy because it was overgrown and had "keep out" signs on the fence, I did another turn aroun by the ticket booth which was now complely dark, but the outline of the person with the blue shirt and hat was still visible.
Maybe I will drive back during the day and check the place out.
I just looked the place up online. It is an indian burial ground or cemetary. : ( I wonder why it is not maintained. That is so sad.

Maybe those who would have cared about it are gone. Did you see a house of worship nearby? That cemetery sounds interesting and I'm curious to know how old it is.

Apparently it could be all their relatives & or friends who took care of the place are all also gone now.
And maybe no one of authority today in the town has a budget to maintain the place. Sad.

Actually I did find info about it earlier-and thought I could copy/paste but I could not. Let me try to put some info here now. It is fascinating and sad. : (
Okay, here are some details and a link. There is someone who documents cemetaries and geneologies. The Cemetery lies just east of Lake Chelan next to the Mill Bay Resort.
It is cared for by the owner of the resort, William Evans who said it was never dedicated and really has no name.
The cemetery was started following the formation of a church at this site, by early Catholic missionaries, adding the burial place next to the church. In 1952 the church was destroyed by fire, leaving only the cemetery on the site.
The first burials were primarily the Wapato family, who are members of the Moses Band of the Colville Indians.
In later years additional people were reburied here, displaced from other burial sites.
(Some moved from Chelan Falls from a construction site in 1985. And some moved from the Wells Damn Project in 1999.)
They don't even have names.
The link lists all of those that are buried there.

Add this to the strange and unexpected:
ALSO:
ADDING A WARNING IN CASE YOU DON"T WANT TO SEE STUFFED ANIMALS ON DISPLAY. SORRY! Didn't know if there was a spoiler tag or how to do it properly.
Spoiler Alert!
Grocery store in Twisp called Hanks Harvest Foods. Or Hanks. It is not only a grocery store, but has a full display of taxidermied animals on top of the shelves and in front of the registers!
Sorry again for the poor image quality.
Here is a link to info about the store. Sounds like they have great meat and awesome employees, sounds like the owner is a person who contributes to the community.
I just don't know if I could shop while all the animals are looking at me! I think they should open a separte place and call it a museum.
