One of the things people are saying is to not blame the bat. Of course I wouldn't blame a fucking bat! But I blame the people that hunt them, capture them, keep them in a market and eat them.
It doesn't seem like a good idea to keep doing anymore. I can't believe they are still doing it, if they are.
The other problem I have seen mentioned is the fact that someone could be in a jungle one day and then on an airplane the next. Maybe they should start enacting 14 day quarantines to anyone wanting to travel to exotic jungles or places where some of these viruses can be caught.
People are so fucking spoiled.
Myself included. I know it.

Had a pretty good scare over Easter, but I learned a valuable object lesson every needs to hear.
My wife works in health care; she has had several coworkers test positive for COVID-19.
Saturday night I spiked a 103 degree fever; based on recent events, everyone assumed the worse. I was whisked to the hospital placed on a COVID ward and waited on the test results. My only advise on the test itself - embrace the suck; it is not pleasant. Thank God, I was negative and was immediately moved to a regular ward.
Now the lesson I learned. There are ten major virus groups, and several minor ones. Of the ten major groups each group contains around one hundred unique viruses. For the mathematically challenged, that means there are well over a thousand unique viruses inhabiting this planet with us. Doctors have tests to identify only a few hundred of these viruses; in the vast majority of cases, such as my own, the doctors have no clue what actual virus you contract. They prescribe a broad spectrum antibiotic and watch to see if it works. I understood that method is called - trial and error.
During my discharge my doctor explained all this to me; then he made one of the most profound statements I have heard - medicine is an art pretending to be a science. Please remember that that the next time you hear one of those so called “experts” spewing facts based on models made out of pure bull crap.

I was given one called Vancomycin; it broke my fever in just a few hours. I went from 103.3 to 98.3 and my oxygen sats went from the low 80's to 100%. I was admitted only because they need 24 to 48 hours for the blood cultures to develop.

"Vancomycin is an antibiotic. When taken by mouth it fights bacteria in the intestines. Vancomycin is used to treat an infection of the intestines caused by Clostridium difficile, which can cause watery or bloody diarrhea."
Alrighty then.

Alrighty then. Twatla, you are just plain stupid. Vancomycin has many uses. I will take medical advice from qualified physicians, not a broken down old harridan.

How about Kaiser Permantente then?
Antibiotics are strong medicines that treat bacterial infections. Antibiotics won't treat viral infections because they can't kill viruses. You'll get better when the viral infection has run its course. Common illnesses caused by bacteria are urinary tract infections, strep throat, and some pneumonia.

I have learned to dbl check most Doctors. Some are trustworthy but many just give out the general standard that is going around at the time and are usually thinking of their next vacation when they are doing it. An observant person can tell.
