Did you know that the ice cream truck jingle is.............racist? Who knew until Wu Tang came up with one that's not. Remember Wu......Tang. What a way to get your name out there!  Insane

No, I did not know that. The ice cream truck around here plays Home On The Range.

Dang I kind of like that tune. Curious to see what a new one will be.

Here are the lyrics:

As I was a-goin'
On down the road
With a tired team
And a heavy load
I cracked my whip
And the leader sprung
I says day-day
To the wagon tongue

Turkey in the straw
Turkey in the hay
Turkey in the straw
Turkey in the hay
Roll 'em up and twist 'em up
A high tuck a-haw
And hit 'em up a tune called
Turkey in the Straw

Went out to milk
And I didn't know how
I milked the goat
Instead of the cow
A monkey sittin'
On a pile of straw
A winkin' at
His mother-in-law

Turkey in the straw
Turkey in the hay
Turkey in the straw
Turkey in the hay
Roll 'em up and twist 'em up
A high tuck a-haw
And hit 'em up a tune called
Turkey in the Straw

I came to the river
And I couldn't get across
So I paid five dollars
For a big bay hoss
Well, he wouldn't go ahead
And he wouldn't stand still
So he went up and down
Like an old saw mill

Turkey in the straw
Turkey in the hay
Turkey in the straw
Turkey in the hay
Roll 'em up and twist 'em up
A high tuck a-haw
And hit 'em up a tune called
Turkey in the Straw

Did you ever go fishin'
On a warm summer day
When all the fish
Were swimmin' in the bay
With their hands in their pockets
And their pockets in their pants
Did you ever see a fishie
Do the Hootchy-Kootchy Dance?

Turkey in the straw
Turkey in the hay
Turkey in the straw
Turkey in the hay
Roll 'em up and twist 'em up
A high tuck a-haw
And hit 'em up a tune called
Turkey in the Straw

I saw an ice cream truck get hit by a speeding vehicle. The ice cream truck driver passed away.

IT WAS TRAUMATIC! (I was in my 20's)

One thing I never thought would be a job that was considered dangerous is an ice cream truck driver. I here the jingle is "Turkey in the straw" so I guess because it was used in minstrel shows it was racist. I really think Wu Tang is just trying to get their name out via controversy but what do I know.

hah    I'm wondering what happened to the ice cream. I guess it depends on what neighborhood it happened in.

It was in Spanaway WA. My husband and I had just got some ice cream, out on a walk. Minutes later this low-rider honda or hyundai is speeding in a 25 mph zone and hits her. It was a mess and not pretty. We called 911, and my husband was a camera man and called a local news station also. We gave witness statements.
I can still hear my (ex) husbands voice, "You hit the ice cream lady!" as he ran over to her.

TACOMA -- A Yakima woman thrown from her ice cream truck in a crash in Spanaway earlier this week has died from her injuries.
Tammie Bishop, 43, was ejected from her truck Monday when a car behind her tried to pass while she was making a turn, then collided with her truck on the driver's side rear bumper.
Bishop was taken to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Tacoma, where she died Wednesday. The crash remained under investigation yesterday.
