I just discovered a new blogger, Matt Stoller, who has very good things to say about Netflix's War Machine, which is all about our Afghanistan adventure. I think I'll break down and get a sub so I can watch it.

One of the things Stoller brings to light is the fact that defense contractors took proprietary software with them when they bailed out, which crippled the fancy hardware we'd given to the Afghan military. Couple that with the fact that US forces left Bagram Airfield in the dead of night without saying anything to the Afghans left behind, and it's no wonder they didn't fight. So yeah, plenty of blame to go around.

I am hearing some dreadful horror stories coming out of Afghanistan. Those boys are monsters. I have heard just tonight, 1 murdered, 1 raped and another tortured. I think they were US citizens still stuck there trying to get out. God help them.
