ABORTION IN THE UNITED STATES
Having an abortion is like not wearing a bra. You walk out, light up a Virginia Slims and goddamnit, you're liberated!

I walked out and then had lunch at a Thai restaurant. It was delicious.

You're joking, right? Liberated? I would imagine for most women that there would be a feeling of sadness & disappointment.

...and why are you only viewing it as a procedure to walk into & out of? What about the babies who died in the womb and the mother needs a procedure? What about little girls who are the victim of rape? What about mentally challenged females in a facility who are raped by their caretakers? There are many, many reasons to have a pregnancy terminated that have nothing whatsoever to do with using that procedure as birth control. WTF, rothschild.

I'm ordering Thai for dinner, I love their salads. I did not have an abortion though.

I can't vouch for anyone else but when I found out I was pregnant, it felt like I had been told I had cancer. I got an abortion at 6 weeks and it would have been earlier if they had allowed it. And it was such a huge, incredible sense of relief. Thank god abortion was legal.

There was a young woman there that was crying after the procedure though. It's not a walk in the park for everyone.

The vast majority of abortions are performed on folks who are very poorly educated. It's pretty sad when a society cares more about access to abortion than it does about educational excellence. It's indicative of failure.

Well, that sounds like complete horseshit. Women from all social and economic backgrounds get abortions. If you have to make up ridiculous claims like this to try to make a point, then you've already lost the argument.

They should give them free if you can twerk.

That's a brilliant idea.

Also its annoying when rc tries to switch the focus of the thread. So now the thread would be about education and examples of how society either cares about it or doesn't. FFS.

That was brave of you to share your story Roo.

I had three abortions, all on birth control. I had three live births all on birth control. You can't detect a heartbeat or anything up until 8 weeks. You have to get a vaginal ultrasound to even detect anything and it's a speck of sand surrounded in tissue.

Where did I say that only poor people get abortions? I didn't, your argument is a strawman. If you can't read for comprehension then how can you form a logical argument?

Abortion correlates closely with class, as does teenage pregnancy and unprotected promiscuousness. Are you seriously going to tell me that intelligent people don't make better life choices on average than those who lack intelligence?

That's abnormal as far as odds go. Pregnancy by osmosis.

Intelligent people must not have sex.

You might want to check the stats on teen pregnancies and sex.

According to the CDC teen pregnancies for whites are less than half of black and hispanic teen pregnancies. The stats for income are the opposite historically, so yes, teen pregnancy correlates closely with class.

You're fortunate that you live during a time where you had that choice. I don't have a dog in this fight, but I do think about the women who come after us who might not have a choice.

I mostly think about all the people, men in particular, who believe it's their goddamn business what women do with their bodies. It's not. How the hell can it be okay for strangers to have access to anyone's medical decisions? I know I'm preaching to the choir.

It's more a case of government having authority over your body, which is repugnant, but it's not that different from coercing people to get vaccinated. It's wrong in both cases. Just because I think it's sad that abortion takes precedence over quality education doesn't mean I support government being a moral arbiter. You can't legislate morality because all you end up with is compliance, which is something totally different.

I have been avoiding this but here goes.  The act of abortion is horrendous, if the child survives, it is placed on a dish or plate to die.  Mothers who abort suffer depression, life long of various strengths, this is what research says.  And regret doing it.  Generally.

A doctor who performed an abortion was observing his incision to cut the sack around the child to kill it.  The child fought like a maniac to survive, the doctor was so traumatised he became an anti abortionist.

Anti abortionists regard abortion as the modern holocaust, cant disagree with that.  I remember standing in line at an airport, listening to two 20 something girls discussing contraception, one said she used the day after pill as routine.

Go and perform an abortion or watch one, if you can.   All i can say is that if were female and had an abortion, it would destroy my life.  No matter who the father was, i dont kill things.

I pick up worms on paths and put them safe, i feed the birds daily.  I spent my life looking after people, i do it now.  I suppose you are who you are.  To those who have had an abortion and thought nothing of it, then i can only  say im not on your planet.   There must be some developmental steps missed.

Do you think anyone other than your Dr and yourself have the right to make your medical decisions? Do you think society in general has the right to your private medical information?
