I happen to have a stash of each. A very bright concoction and will probably mess with it this winter. The Professor thinks I'm nuts but o well who cares?

It keeps you occupied & out of trouble over those long, cold months. Have fun. Don't blind yourself.

I have a stash of Magnesium flares and about 40 phosphorus sparklers. Sometimes I like to mix them and make spark fountains, they go about 12 ft in the air and all I use a wet dry vac to force air through the tube. I make a cone that goes 4" to 1" and light it. I have to look into something that will give it color other than just white. It's spectacular on a snowy night. It cures my boredom

I think it sounds like fun actually.
Now I'm imagining you as that scientist or professor, can't recall, in Back to The Future.

Don't blind yourself. color additives blue is the hardest to get right get some permanganate to mix with the magnesium, you will need a metal tube (best 8" of 2" cold rolled steel taped out by drill - leave an inch in tact) and a squib. very loud concussion mortar.

Kinda like a potato gun that uses hairspray. I do have alum brazing flux for red though.

My brother David RIP worked at the Budweiser plant in shipping and receiving. He would unload trucks and put things in and had a great time doing it. He was called "Lunch truck" as a nickname and taught me something. Whenever a driver would piss him off for being rude or impatient he would take a 2 liter bottle and pack it 1⁄3 with dry ice, add a little water, put the cap back on then shake it up a bit and toss it under the truck.
That thing would blow up like an m-100 and make a hell of a racket. When I started getting my Butcher box meat they packed it with dry ice so me being the nutcase I am tried it. The Professor thought someone got shot in the backyard a few times but now knows what it is. Thanks Dave for teaching me that. We all have to find fun when we can.
