Wedding Dresses
#1
What do you/did you do w/ your wedding dress?

I was visiting my mom this weekend and she gave me mine which she had been storing. The lace is really pretty and I'm thinking about making something out of it.

I was never one for fancy dresses.   My first wedding,  the dress was an off the rack summer dress,  that I later tie dyed and wore all the time.

The second wedding was renaissance themed,  and the dress was turned into a Halloween costume.

I never understood women who paid thousands of dollars for a dress that only gets worn once.

I don't have a wedding dress, but I did have a gorgeous fur coat that someone I love left to me. It's not something I would have ever worn and I couldn't just give it away so I paid for climate control storage for it for a long time. I ended up finding a seamstress who made several teddy bears with it and we donated them to a kid's burn unit.

My dress was not fancy. I went dress shopping and couldn't stand all of the dresses I saw. So I went to the department store and saw this silky skirt with a sparkly top that laced up in the back. It was less than $50.

But then my mom and sister added a silk train w/ lace and made my veil. The lace on the train was more expensive than the dress itself, but overall what was spent on the dress was less expensive than what most of the dresses were going for.

I would like to find something to do with the lace.

I like the tie dye! That is pretty awesome.

Depending on how much fabric you have,   you could make really cute curtains for a bedroom.
Or you could make a series of lace dream catchers, such as these:

You could also make a wreath out of it,  if you felt like cutting it into strips.

I don't have a wedding dress either, I'm not much on weddings. I remember my mom had a long fur coat though and I liked putting it on as a kid. I don't know what ever happened to it, but I wish I had it. I'd probably even wear it, the animal that made it is long dead now so whats the difference.
