I gave up on religion a long time ago, but still gave my kids Christmas presents and Easter baskets. It probably makes me a hypocrite, but should atheists acknowledge those days with gifts?
Should an atheist celebrate religious holidays?

It's Christians who have no business celebrating Christmas since it was originally a pagan holiday. That's where the tradition of hanging lights and decorating trees came from, it was to keep evil spirits away. Same with Easter, the rabbit and eggs are a pagan symbol of fertility and have nothing to do with Jesus. The Christians took the pagan's holiday and named it Christmas in order to convert them. That is why Jehovah's do not celebrate it, it's not clean and against God's wishes. So go ahead and celebrate without feeling guilty, you're an atheist and don't have to answer to the big guy in the sky .

This year is kind of a personal choice. For the last 5 years, I have sent gifts to my ex husband's house for nieces, nephews, ex in-laws, etc. Last year, I sent 45 gifts over, 3 people thanked me.
I don't necessarily want a thank you from everyone, but I would like it to be acknowledged. The acknowledgement was from my ex, asking where my gifts were. I told him that I wasn't planning on sending everyone gifts this year, and now he is saying that I can't send to the 3 people who actually thanked me. Fuck him, I'm going to mail them, but he keeps bringing up jesus
