In my family when someone entered the room, or group that you didn't know, I learned that you introduce yourself to them and shake thier hands. Now we may not be shaking hands as much these days but I appreciate people who also do this.
I have been in situations where people don't and it always feels akward to me-and I'm not talking about the shy person-I am talking about the person who thinks they don't need to introduce certain people to certain people based upon thier jobs.
Today my new boss introduced me to the people who were also there helping her get this place ready as a vacation rental and even when she had some friends stop by she introduced all of us as well. I've worked for people that will just walk by you once thier friends show up.

Okay, the other thing I grew up with is-if someone showed up at a meal time they were getting a plate, no matter how little food was on the table, there was always something to scrounge up or make or offer a guest.
I appreciate good hospitality.
And I'm not talking about the moocher-we didn't have those kind of people around. When the neighbors watched me my mom fed them in eggs from the chickens, something was always given for every gesture.

My father was in the military and for most holidays we usually had young airmen over who didn't have any family close by or couldn't go home for the holidays. We once took someone up to the mountains after Thanksgiving dinner because they had never seen snow before.

I lived with someone for a very short time who was the opposite of all of this and it felt very cold at thier place-and odd, and like anything I could offer wouldn't suit them. I could never figure it out and probably never will. Good thing I didn't stay there long.

Geez where did you get that from the original question? You should know by now that Duchess starts question threads. No where did she say she wanted people to be nicer.
Good thing you proved you are a bad ass and so edgy.

I like making Lizzie think; she does it so rarely.

It is hilarious that you would even consider that I pay credence to anything you have to say.  hah

Here's a thought . . .

Pretend you're not choosing a song.

Order . . . don't request.

Fuck the new-ish guy's flat affect!

If it really bothers you and you really care (a scenario I highly doubt), invite him to one of your holiday soirees.

'Tis the season . . . gush with and give kindness to those, so desperately lacking the social graces of polite society.

Or quit the fuck trying to engage this droid.

That’s how the guy is at the liquor store, I don’t know if he’s just a dick head or if something is actually wrong with him. He asked me for my ID once and then said that at first glance I looked underage. I said well maybe that’s a good thing and he didn’t say anything back. Those are the only words he has spoken and I’m in there almost everyday. Even though I say thank you every time he doesn’t say anything back. He’s such a fucking weirdo.
