I’m pretty sure my MIL is going to die tonight or tomorrow from Covid and pneumonia and I’ve put a lot of effort into saving her the last 10 days or so (since she got sick) and it SUCKS that it’s not working out according to my plan. My husband is cutting a business trip short to go be with her and his siblings in the hospital tonight. At this point I just hope she leaves as comfortably as possible (morphine could start at anytime). Rough times. My husband just lost his 59 year old B/F to a freak case of sepsis around 10 months ago. Death sucks.

People kind of forget covid is still a thing or that it still kills folks. Sorry about your mom in law. Good friend of my gf who struggles already with MS, caught covid in Vegas on his honeymoon, went fully deaf, got sepsis and a gaping arm wound, basically trashed his whole body and his new bride was suddenly his caregiver. Rough husiness.
Thank god I am oblivious to the opinions of others while caught in the blinding splendor of my own cleverness.

I'm sorry to read that, User. That's awful. As Donovan noted, Covid is still out there and lately I've been seeing more of it even in my own circle.

Thanks for the nice words. She’s still hanging on by a thread. She can’t eat cuz they’re afraid she’ll aspirate but her lungs are so fucked up, she can’t breathe or swallow really either so IDK how long she can hang on. She really wants to live (which is good) but given they’re all freaked out about her aspirating over food, (or even Boosts), I don’t see how they can turn this around. It’s fucked up and I can’t fix it. :(

That’s freaking awful. My husband’s b/f for the last 20 years had some arm pain and went to the ER. They figured he injured himself working out and gave him some pain meds and sent him home. 4 days later he went back and sepsis had basically eaten his entire arm and left side. They said “if” they could save him they’d have to amputate the arm and he’d likely be in recovery for at least a year. He died the next day at 59 with a 4 y/o daughter and a devastated widow. That was around February last year. Brutal. Sorry about ur friend.

I generally feel like health care in the U.S. sucks now. Getting appointments is stupidly difficult (can’t even find GP’s or internists for my son or I) even though we have great insurance and I’ve even offered to pay up front and deal with insurance myself. Lack of Drs (especially because those that go into the medical field would rather be plastic surgeons or something that pays more) and chintzy care by hospital Drs cuz they’re on some insurance clock/willingness to pay for services. Something needs to change.

Can they give her a feeding tube? That happened to my mom where she couldn't eat or swallow without aspirating, but at that point she was already under Hospice care and they are not there to prolong life in any way.

I’ll have to ask. I know she (and her kids) are ruling out intubation or a ventilator but IDK the difference between a feeding tube and the other options. She’s barely cognizant but she’s been able to voice her opinion that she believes she’ll die if intubated. So she’s getting about 1⁄ 2 a Boost a day (sips here and there) and that’s it. :/

They say veterinarians are more knowledgeable than most doctors now because they understand how the whole body works unlike specialist today.

As I scroll through cyberspace I see a lot of posts from teachers who either outright ask for things or suggest looking at their Amazon wishlists for classroom supplies. I'm always so taken aback to read those posts. How can classrooms not have what they need to educate kids?

Yeh you guys have a weird system. Mind you, the public system over here is not as good as the private schools. I sent mine to a private school because the state schools were too rough. You hear of bullying and the girls are highly sexualized and drugs. No thank you. It's bad enough in the private schools, it still goes on.
Supplies and that kind of stuff they have. But some schools have problems with anti-social behaviour.
