We bought our house with solar panels already installed so IDK about the up front cost but heating or cooling our 4300+ square feet hasn’t cost us more than $400/month (and sometimes it’s a lot less). When the sun’s out.

For a time there were huge subsidies/tax credits for installing solar panels so why not?
