Well, I got the toe of a hiking boot slightly stuck under a step yesterday taking the dog out for a walk and fell forward and fractured the 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th metatarsal bones in the top of my left foot.

I’ll probably be dead before I’m allowed to try to put any weight on that foot again (although…on the plus side, “clean fractures”, it looks like I won’t need surgery). 

I kinda wish they’d just put me in a coma for a few weeks and wake me up when it’s better. Goddamn crutches, crawling up stairs, no running…dis sucks.

That sounds fucking awful.

Yeah being in the hospital for two days with around the clock dilaudid was not terrible, in fact I wanted to stay longer. Crutches suck, but they're actually kind of a workout so at least you're still getting some exercise.

It does suck! I hope it passes fast for you, it's so hard to be laid up when one is an active person.

I didn't know you then, but I know that a few years later when you broke your arm that it was a very difficult time for you and more than once I felt worried that you were becoming deeply depressed.

Yeah I'd much rather brake my wrist if I had to choose. My friend's dad accidentally broke her 6 month old son's leg years ago while he was babysitting. He walked up to the corner bar and grill with him and the story turned out that the baby slipped out of his arms, when he caught him by the leg he snapped it. He was our roommate at the time and the baby screamed all night long. I kept knocking on the bedroom door asking if he was alright and he told me that he's just being fussy. I knew it must have been something more than that like an ear infection or something, but I never imagined his fucking leg was broke. The next morning my friend took him to the hospital not knowing what was wrong with him either and of course they called DCF right away.

One of the reasons it hurt so much is it had started to heal, yeah the arm was bad right when covid hit.

I sure would like to be able to get outdoors and give my urns a fresh coat of paint. February is always the month that lasts 6 weeks.

Holy shit!!! 

That’s awful. I have to get an MRI done to be sure I didn’t also tear a ligament (which would involve surgery)…early next week. I’m hoping not because as much as this injury hurt/hurts, I feel like it’s already getting better (and it’s not even the codeine! Barely taking any). Even though I’m being told I can’t (or shouldn’t) put any weight on it for at least the next 3+ weeks, I kinda call bs. I think in a week or so I could start putting light weight on it (if it keeps not hurting too badly) but I’m trying to be patient cuz I don’t want to fuck it up worse.

But ur experience is kind of like my nightmare. I’m so damn active every day (serious ADHD), I feel like I’d go crazy. It’s already making me nuts how little I can do (take garbage out? nope. Get laundry from downstairs to upstairs or vice versa…nope. Walk the dog? Fuck no.

Did you ever fully recover? 

I would get depressed, TBH. I have a friend and she’s so damn zen “we’re all going to get older and lose abilities along the way…”. I get that but I don’t accept it. I can better accept shit that happens gradually; not the one day u can do x, y, z and the next BAM, ur world is completely different. That sucks.

Ahhh, fuck!!! He must have (and kind of should have) felt horrible when he realized the baby’s leg was broken. 
When my kids were infants (literally a couple months old) I had a p/t “mother’s helper” that would come in while I was around to help me with them. She strapped them into a double stroller for a walk one day and my daughter was crying (it seemed excessive but I wasn’t too bright; I thought she’d be fine once they got into strolling). Anyway, later that day I was changing her diaper and I discovered a wound on the side of her abdomen. I realized after a lot of WTF’ery that when she was snapped into the stroller her skin must have been pinched in the clasp on one side. No wonder she was hollering! I felt horrible. I think she probably spent 30 minutes on that “stroll” basically getting tortured. PTSD.

I have about 90% movement, being able to use my pool for therapy was very helpful.

The crazy part is that was the first time I ever jumped with my phone and nobody was near me and I had to call manifest to get help.
