Does anyone belong to an HOA?

I know Sally belongs to one. Actually I’m waiting for a headline “Florida Woman Arrested at HOA Meeting”.

I don’t belong to one. I recently had to sell my deceased aunt’s home in Ohio and she did. Fuckers tried to tell me I couldn’t park a damn dumpster for a DAY in front of her house while we were getting it cleaned out. I had to call the stupid HOA chairperson to get a waiver. It was stupid and for $350/month in Ohio…I don’t see where it was worth it.

I've only heard awful things about HOA's

The only benefit is-you probably will never have to look at a neighbor's yard full of broken down cars, or a pink house. And they will encourage you to always keep up on your lawn care, heaven forbid you get called away to active duty military serving your country and the lawn gets a little long and they fine you, whew.

You won't have to look at silly decorations probably or annoying signs posted by neighbors for garage sales

I belong to a HOA. Not all of them are awful, in fact mine is just fine now. I guess it depends
on whether it is run by an "outside" organization or run by the "HOA" residents.  
Currently, our current HOA President is a sweetheart, and is very personable and reasonable.
The HOA President is "elected" by the residents of the association when the current resident
no longer wants to be President. This system has worked well for over forty years. 
As far as for the lawn, it is meticulously maintained by the HOA fees, along with painting the buildings every 8 years, replacing the roofs when needed (just done 2022) supplying water, spraying lawns for bugs every two months, and providing assistance to residents when needed. I like my HOA.

I bought my parents a brand new mobile home, the park was run by some real assholes with too many stupid RULES! Then my brother killed my moms caretaker who happened to be the ex mil of the other brother who was whispering bad things in his ear. Then they all got kicked out...I lost about $100,000 on that deal.

We just built a house in a neighborhood with an HOA and I don't particularly like the idea of it. My husband wanted to live next to the golf course with the most desirable properties and unfortunately that section has an HOA. The people down the street have a mailbox that is shaped like a gun pointed directly at the neighbors across the street. The mail lady told me that they got into a feud about something and that's why he got the mailbox, now he's in trouble with the HOA. I dont plan on going to the meetings, but I think I'll attend that one just for fun lol.

I've never lived in a community with a HOA. On one hand, I understand the appeal of it and on the other, I think there is no fucking way I am letting anyone dictate what I can and cannot do on my property.

I don't like the term Karen, but man did we run into one the other day. Well not me, but the guy that works for us. We deliver dump trailers to construction sites and residential properties. This bitch comes out of her house and freaks out on him because he was blocking her mail box a little bit. He was polite to her and she just kept screaming and threatening him so we told him to call the cops. When they got there she ran in the house and wouldn't answer the door. What a fucking cunt lol.
