Creepy, scary movies
#1
After the recent 'discussion' *ahem!* about a certain cinematic serial killer, I started thinking about characters in movies that freaked me out.

Remember "the tall man" in Phantasm? The movie scared the shit out of me back in the day... now it just looks cheesy. I've got fond memories of seeing this at the drive-in.::bigg::

Another was that 'pinhead' guy from Hellraiser. This still gives me goosebumps and makes me feel a little queasy.

With most horror films with a "killer" I am normally on the side of the killer so I don't really find slasher films scary at all.

I prefer older horror films like the original haunting from 1963, no dickhead wearing a silly mask, no boring gore, no CGI shit, just good old fashioned psychological horror.

If there was one character in a horror flick that freaks me out (I have watched it several times because that kinda freak out is FUN) it was the broad in The Ring. When she comes climbing out of the TV after the film guy, I about piss myself. The faces of the dead people freak me out a bit too, but when she comes out of the TV....holy FUCK.....::scared:::shock: [Image: supershock2.gif][Image: faint2.gif] ::blink::

I tend to get more scared at 'demonic' type movies... probably from my Catholic upbringing and he church's mindless drivel pounded into my head as a child.

Yeah, that one and "The Grudge" with all the hair and the insect-like movement. Sort of stupid plots, but creepy anyway.

I think I must have missed the meeting where Hollywood decided that having black staring eyes was the most terrifying think imaginable.

"Boo! look at me! I am very scary!"

::dunno::

"Come on!, I am a small pale child with black staring eyes!"

A lot of very recent horror films feature ghosts, creatures, demons etc with black eyes.

Are black eyes inherently scary ?

I don't think so myself. My son has nearly black eyes with his Italian bloodline and I don't think he's scary-looking.

I prefer dark eyes over those glacial-looking, almost white, blue eyes like on Daniel Craig.

I am always moreafraid of what is implied...I have been so scared before that I was afraid to look over at the window 'cuz I just KNEW someone would be looking back at me.
