I've been getting emails from a couple of forums that I abandoned when I joined Mock...I finally stopped in to see what was going on...I left without posting...I could not think of one damn thing to post that wasn't cheeky and/or sarcastic...Mock has spoiled me...And not only that but, the people & the posts were downright dull...One of them had a chick serving freakin' make believetea and a warm pashmina for someones chilly shoulders...What the fuck is that shit ?!!...I don't know how to act in a "normal" forum anymore...

LOL, I know what you mean. You get to say what you want how you want to say it here. That is the part I really enjoy. On the downside, it can make other forums seem a little fake or too polite perhaps. But hey, each forum has its purpose ...

You need to compartmentalise your brain so you can switch to an appropriatepersona suitable for whatever online environment you are in.

Thats what I do, on the football forum I am a member of you have to have your wits about you or the other memberswill tear you to shreds, so I make sure I have mymental radar is turned on full blast when I am there.

At the "other place" I often simplify my wording so members like Newbie Collector can.........read........what......I.......am.......typing without having a stroke.

I can't tell you how annoying that 'role playing' bullshit is to me. I belonged to one forum where there were about five wannabe dragons, and one liked to 'nuzzle' and 'puff' the ladies. It's creepy and stupid.

Forum bars/coffee shops/tea parties require more suspension of disbelief than I'm willing to generate. ' "Hey barkeep, hit me with one-a-them-thar whiskeys!" the tall, rangy ranch hand drawled.' Hey asshole, get off your computer and get a REALlife. ::rollseyes::

As for being polite... what's the point of a forum if you can't say what's on your mind. Granted, they don't all have to be like this one with a healthy sprinkling of profanity and vulgarity, but those 'nice' forums that are so very, very proper have a lot of backstabbing going on behind the polite facade. I never played the persona crap on any site I've belonged to. The only thing I conformed to was the language restrictions mandated by each forum and the rules of the joint.

So this place lets me be me fully aside from my own site where my members are a bit odd and not as rough and tumble. They like the little quiet place I've got there and I just find other outlets for myself.
