The Global Poverty Act requires the President to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.

I can't help but think we should fix up our own house before diluting our President with the poor of other Nations.

I couldn't agree more however, it seems that the general consensus around the world is that the richest country should set the stage, or take first steps to bring an end to poverty levels that are out of control.

Since America is one of the leading world powers and the richest nation, should we make the first move towards this or should we wait until someone else steps up?

• Example: if you lived on a street where everyone was super poor but the house on the corner had super rich people in it, how would it make you feel if they offered to donate a small portion of their wealth to be evenly distributed to everyone on that block?

I don't know the name of it. I was surfing cable and came across it. It was about Iraq corruption and the private companies, like Halliburton, the special access they have, the overcharging, the lack of accountability, how lives were put at risk, etc.

Our Prime minster Gordon "one eye" Brown is forever dishing out millions of pounds worth of aid to other countries while the UK economy continues to worsen.

I am also an advocateof the "charity begins at home" theory, I don't see why a country that has thousands of its own citizens living rough on the streets should give money to anybody else.

I also hate the fact that some of the countries begging for money were once part of the British empire and after beinggiven independence are now begging for handouts knowing that they were better off as part of that empire. They kick us out and put some fucking chimp on the throne or elect a fucking monkey as "president" then wonder why their country is falling apart!
