We ended up with about 2' of snow... and it's snowing.

I was stuck having to do an emergency sleep-over at a friend's house last night. The roads were shut down. Two of my friends were stuck approximately 2 miles outside of town, on the interstate, all night long. One of them was in her truck with her two sons WITHOUT HEAT for 8 hours. The other friend was stuck in his car (not far from where the gal was) for 11 hours. The National Guard was supposed to come in and help people, but apparently they never showed up.

I came VERY close to getting stuck in the same area all night with my little boy. Fortunately, at the last minute, I decided to just go to my friend's house instead of trying to make it home (I had planned to take the route from the interstate, since it's more level). As it was, I was stuck in traffic for 2 hrs to travel a distance of maybe half a mile.

I managed to creep my way home today (I FUCKING LOVE SUBARUS). Here are a few pics after I got home. Here's some snow for you, Duch. I hope you got some too. I'm MORE than happy to share. Smiley_emoticons_slash

No, and most of the people who got stuck last night didn't either.

The truth is, we get 'severe' winter weather every so often, but it's rare enough for 2' of snow to be 'a big deal', so most people around here don't bother. It's true though, that I SHOULD pack an emergency kit for the car, because obviously it DOES happen, and things can happen even without severe weather.

You're right. I'm going to make myself a note to do that. It's just naive to NOT do it, really. Smiley_emoticons_slash
