Incorrect. A properly maintained database will never have issues from things being deleted. Which is why I'm writing cron scripts to optimize and backup the database daily. The issue you're talking about is actually caused by database overhead. Which is something you can manage and reduce to nothing by properly running your database maint. tools (specifically "repair table" on tables that have overhead) on say a monthly basis for where Mock is right now.

If D is not bright enough to know how to put in split post protocol and shit so you can take shit out of the middle of threads then find another tech who can do it.

There are already mods for it. But that isn't the point. The point is you are WRONG. I don't care what you've personally experienced. The reason you experienced it is because your database was NOT properly maintained OR the software you used didn't handle things properly. MyBB handles things properly and database maint. will be properly handled as well. So your concerns are moot. I know this was a HUGE problem with phpBB1/2. Why? Because THE SOFTWARE didn't handle things very well. Eventually you HAVE to prune (delete things) because if you don't your database becomes too large. This is especially true of VERY large (million plus post) forums. Moreso because there ends up being hard limits on the number of records you can store before causing a server crash. Which is why many forum softwares have an auto-prune feature that you can set to remove posts older than a certain amount of time (a month, 2, 6, 12?) so your database doesn't become bloated. Your hard limits depend on if your server is 32 or 64 bit also, since your tables are limited to UNSIGNED LONG INTEGERS (over 4 billion, but still its a limit) for your ID fields. But a database that size becomes very difficult to manage. So again. LEARN WHAT THE FUCK YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT AND DON'T TRY TO APPLY THINGS FROM OTHER SOFTWARES TO THIS ONE.

A "trash can" isn't a BAD idea. So long as posts are emptied from it after awhile so that your database doesn't become bloated and hard to manage.

Dick, this software does have the ability STOCK to merge and split posts. Moderators can only do this if an admin permits them to do so.

Keeping users that either don't want to remain a member and ask to be deleted by request or you delete spammers does not leave holes in your database. The only reason you would keep members that don't want to be here or spammers is if you're a member count whore. Same for posts that don't apply to anything - a post whore tactic for keeping up post counts.

In point of fact I just purged all users that had 0 posts and were more than 2 weeks since they're last login OR who were unverified and over 2 weeks old.
