Kinda chilly this morning with the down canyon breeze, sitting here drinking my coffee on the patio. I've go to go to Huntington beach later it should be perfect there. Tomorrow I'm going up to Big Bear lake mountain bike riding with a guy I met on the trail. Will be much cooler than here.

Nice. I'm sitting here in my office pretty much scared shitless of 70-80 mile winds that could be here tomorrow.

Yes it did, I put the shutters in place for nothing!
But it gave me peace of mind, so it was worth it to me!

Yes they can, while overlooking "disastrous distruction"!

I hope it doesn't get too windy Duchess!
My weather app stopped being supported by android. DOES EVERYONE HAVE A FAVORITE WEATHER APP THEY USE? I would like recommendations please!
What I liked about the one I was using (dark sky) is that I could have about 5 cities saved, so I could always look up how the weather was where my friends and family are.

I feel so lucky, so very lucky. There is devastation all around me. Roofs have been ripped off, I saw pix of entire walls of 2 story homes gone! Hundreds of trees demolished, overturned semi's, stop signs completely bent to where they are lying flat. God, so much destroyed.

I didn't lose power at all and there is no damage on my road as far as I know. I got about 5.5 inches of rain and the wind pulled the cover off my pergola, there are a couple branches down in the yard but that seems to be all that happened here on the farm. I spent some time going the through the pix that have been posted and I really can't believe that's my little community. The overturned semi's and cars were pretty freaky to see as well as the walls torn off some homes. Jesus. That's usually the shit I see on the evening news.

That "storm" caused at least 4 deaths, and devastation in the Carolina's, as well as NYC, and crumbled a building in "Brooklyn" NY.
But the sunrise this morning was great.

My hazmat suit has only been used 3 times once when I went to the grocery store and twice when I went to get gas. The little booties are cool and the goggles are clear. my breathing device and backpack is fully charged and I had it at the ready just in case the wind picked up over 40mph. I tied down the vehicles and put plywood on my windows. I brought the mailbox in just in case. i was ready for the "big one" I tell ya. i filled my tub with water and told everyone not to flush.

I just found out it was an F1 and it stayed on the ground for a little over 29 miles. I don't want to do this any more, Sal. Keep that shit down there. Please! The only thing that scares me more is death of a loved one.

I dont worry much about a 1 or 2 and I've stayed through 3s, but I'll be the hell out of here if a 4 or 5 is ever headed here. I was terrified when I saw what happened in the Abaco Islands and it was headed here.

It wasn't a hurricane, hun, it was a tornado that spun off the hurricane as it passed my coast. Ignorance is bliss, I had no idea there was a tornado within a mile of me. The lights flickered a few times and there was crazy rain but I was busy and I wasn't watching the radar. I knew the hurricane was off the coast but like you I don't worry about it too much, tornadoes are different story, I am petrified every time severe weather is forecast for my area, I'm a complete pansyass about them. I tried to take a shortcut earlier and I saw the damage to so many very old trees that are around the old plantation houses here. It was sad to see.

For some reason the tornados always hit the trailer parks here. It's like they know.
