Noticed something in all the tribute commercials on TV about the effects of hurricane sandy.
Big difference between this one and New Orleans.
No boons running around the city looting or claiming its a white conspiricy to deprive them of their ancestral homes in the projects.

I'm just as much as a racist as the next cracker, but I remember for days watching the news and videos of those people trapped there with no help and thinking what the fuck. There was no excuse for that shit.
You can say it was the mayors fault, you can say it was the people's fault for not leaving (where the fuck are they gonna go) There is no excuse for people to be stuck on their roofs for days and elderly people dropping dead on the sidewalks. Fuck anyone that says different, I watched that shit live, does anyone remember the lady whose baby died in her arms as she walked for days looking for help, they showed it right on the news.

I remember all that sit too, I was sitting heree truck loaded ready to go help put the place back in communications, until they figured out there wasn't anything to communicate with.
What happend there for the most part was fucked up, no doubt. What the difference was is in how they responded, looting, raping, shooting and stealing everything that wsn't nailed down.
You didn't see that shit in Japan either.
Cultural retards.

When you build a city on top of a swamp you have to wonder how much Mother nature really loves you and for how long. I think I read somewhere that N.Y. has quite a few man made extentions of the city.

There have been no hurricanes threatening the East Coast (knock wood). I better check the ocean temp before one sneaks in and wipes this smug look off my face.

We like to call them 'weather terrorists' around here.
They're always rooting for a tornado, or blizzard or flood. Whatever will wreak the most havoc and give them something to foam at the mouth over.

Weather terrorist's are exactly what they are, (maybe, or are they) yesterday they said flood warnings were being issued due the heavy rain. It rained here somewhat, but no where near a flood condition.
However, this morning on the local TV news, they showed mass flooding two towns away from me. It was devastating to say the least, so . . . .

That is what the media will cover, the devastation and how it must be global warming because the World Bank says so.

Caribbean disturbance strengthens
Tropical disturbance, 8 a.m. Wednesday
OUTLOOK: A disturbance in the Caribbean about 200 miles south of Puerto Rico strengthened a bit overnight. It now has a medium chance of developing into a depression or storm over the next two days and a high chance of developing over the next five days.
Models continue to predict the system might curve northeast out to sea before reaching Florida, however those can't be fully trusted yet.
WHAT FLORIDA CAN EXPECT: It's too early to say if the area will affect the state.
PARTICULARS: The system could be weakened after it moves over Hispaniola and Puerto Rico. The next tropical storm will be named Gabrielle.

Tropical Storm Humberto, 2 p.m., Monday
OUTLOOK: Tropical Storm Humberto strengthened slightly as it moved south of the Cape Verde Islands in the eastern Atlantic. Its top winds now are 45 mph, still a relatively weak system.
However, Humbero is forecast to intensify into the season's first hurricane by Tuesday night or Wednesday. It is predicted to curve north into cooler waters and start weakening by the weekend.

Weather folks are getting all excited again..
Tropical Storm Humberto, 5 a.m. Tuesday advisory
OUTLOOK: Tropical Storm Humberto likely will become the season's first hurricane today in the eastern Atlantic. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Gabrielle returned to life south of Bermuda.
WHAT FLORIDA CAN EXPECT: Neither Humberto nor Gabrielle is expected to affect Florida or the U.S. coastline.
PARTICULARS: As of 5 a.m., Humberto was 9 mph shy of being a hurricane. If it grows into a hurricane today, it will be the second latest system to surface since 1967, behind Hurricane Gustav in 2002.
Humberto is projected to aim north into the Atlantic and strengthen to Category 2 status with sustained winds of 100 mph. Then it is predicted to turn west by Friday and begin weakening in cooler waters.

I live almost 5 hours inland in NC. About 45 minutes from the Mountains. I still remember Hugo in 1989 that came up through Charleston SC, hit Charlotte NC and then us, while not slowing down. We were without power for almost 3 weeks.
That was before I got into insurance. I am so glad I don't insure any coastal property because it is always a cluster *uck!
Humberto looks to be interesting....

There's a hurricane coming. I knew it was out there but I haven't been paying attention to it until someone just now told me I should start preparing. I was in a very cheerful mood before being told that. Bah.

If Clang was here he'd say, "No, she's gonna get moist."
Thank god I am oblivious to the opinions of others while caught in the blinding splendor of my own cleverness.
