4 named storms in the Atlantic right now, and Sally is reeking havoc in the gulf.

Hurricane Ida now has sustained winds of 150 MPH and the pressure continues to drop. This is a very large & dangerous storm and people will suffer. She will make landfall in Louisiana late today or early tomorrow and is expected to be a Cat 5 when she hits land. My God.

Those poor folks in Louisiana, God bless them, God better bless them!
What a colossal catastrophe!

I read a tweet about people trying to get to thier roofs, but they were stuck in the attic. That is terrible.

I just watched some drone video from Grand Isle in Louisiana and it is incredible to see the structures that are still standing and look untouched as compared to others that are as close as next door. I'm so impressed and now I feel moved to go do some reading on their construction and materials.

It seems to have been light and not bad for the last few years.

I'm in Florida and we are officially in hurricane season. I had to get a new roof to replace one that was perfectly fine just to get insurance. $3700 for the year which I thought was pretty cheap actually.

Many people don't realize that flood insurance is totally separate from home owners which is unfortunate because those people don't find out the difference until it's too late and they need their insurance to cover their flooded home.

One time the pipe under my kitchen sink burst, it happened about 3am and everyone was sleeping. I woke up wondering why water was running at 6 am and went into the kitchen and there was 2 inches of water everywhere. It leaked through the floor and got everything wet. The linoleum had been glued down with an asbestos glue and they had to come in and tear it all out. The in surance didn't want to cover a "flood" but I found a clause in the contract that included the pipes in the house so they had to pay up.
I got new cabinets but they sucked because they were like compartments and the old ones were a big shelf with facing. I couldn't fit pans and stuff in each compartment. Now I have to use the lazy susan to keep the pans in.
