There is a marked difference in cultures. If you don't think so, you live in an insulated district and don't hang out in the poor part of town too often. LC should be able to clarify this fact. I have met many "poor" people that have character, and I have met many wealthy people the are pieces of shit. Wealth has nothing to do with "how" you live; it is choice.
There is a growing segment of this society that has "entitlement" mentality because the progressives in this country have been systematically trying to destroy this country. These people are about to find out how wrong they are; the system they created is unsustainable. Selling your freedom for security is no bargin.
When the shit hits the fan the people of character will survive; they have accepted the personal responsibilty to prepare. They will not fold under adversity. The people with no class will riot and demand their welfare nipple to suckle. They will not survive.

Because you don't have to deal with truly poor people.
There is a different set of behavioral and social norms in very poor communities. If the power went off for three days in my community, we would light candles and eat food out of the cupboard. If the power goes off in a poor community, they loot stores. Instead of getting the food their kids' need because they are starving, they go for the big screen TVs.

My comment simply meant that having class, or not, does not mean one has money or not. I know a wealthy person who does not have an iota of class, she is garish, rude & disgusting. I know a person who doesn't have a pot to piss in yet has grace, charm & good manners. You CANNOT buy class, you either have it or you don't.

Exactly. THAT is generational poverty. The entitlement generation.
Any poor folks you know that have good character are probably experiencing situational poverty. A lot of people have been effed by this economy, but they will find a way back.

Yep, only time buys class. How many years do you figure there are to a standard generation? About seventy-five? Her offspring will have built-in class in about one hundred fifty years.
That's why I find genealogy so fascinating. You can track the white trash roots or see the honor you have inherited.

I guess I is po. The last time I went to the doctors for a check up was 8 years ago. It has nothing to do with how much money I make. I just dread going to the doctors, especially the Gyno.
Would you say "the doctors" is like saying "Walmarts" or "Krogers"? Or do you have to have more than one doctor look at your lady bits? One to find the keys and one to drive out? hahahaha (I pulled that one out of my ass from junior high, I think.) No, I would never say I'm going to the Walmarts. I forgot the apostrophe in doctor's, but I would compare it to saying "I'm going to the baker's" (shop). I thought with informal writing that the thing possessed could be dropped if it's in our general knowledge.

I hate to bust your bubble, but you know nothing about me.
I deal with poor people all the time; I have family members who are very poor financially, but have a great deal of class. Their children are well behaved and respectful. I help them financially because I have the means to do so.
I do a great deal of community service; I have been in many "poor" homes. I have seen clean homes of people that choose to live responsibility; I have seen plenty of rat traps as well.
Character or class have nothing to do with wealth; it is a choice people make. If you choose to be a victim you will be.

Take a step beyond that and ask WHY some are good people with bad circumstances and why some just suck.
It doesn't matter to me if you believe or not. Told you, it was training I was forced to attend to try to drag 20% of our population out of abject poverty. I don't buy into it completely, either, but it does give me something to think about and another filter to apply to the world around me. I don't usually use the training to taunt rednecks, but to try to understand people who are not making it.
You act like the entire population is aware of the choices they make. Everybody isn't like you are. Surely you know that.

That's kinda what this thread is about. Even if you don't know someone personally, you can usually decipher certain things about them if you look closely enough. Not with perfect certainty, but within a reasonable range.
So, if you can't learn about people just by reading about them, why all you people so into Jesus? Hmm? (goin' to HELL for sure for that one)

I mock people who brag about their "stuff"... Personally, I was brought up with the understanding that talking about money was uncouth. I find it funny when people here (or on other forums) go on and on about how wealthy they are. Makes me cringe. I was taught that it's really tacky to talk about your wealth, state your income or brag about things that you own.
I don't need to classify it...it's just good manners not to brag about your "stuff". Plus, there are more important things than someone's "stuff".

Fucking sheeple, I guess it makes sense for you though, people with low self esteem need others of the same mentality to surround themselves with.
keep talking big and doing nothing it's expected of you at this point.
