as far as family tradition goes, fuck that shit also, I do what I want.

Ahhhh.......I remember San Diego back in 1979..........climbing the "stairway to heaven" near Chula Vista and listening to that fucking black guy that used to hang out with me saying "shit-shit shit on a stick, shit shit shit on a stick" all the fuck the way up to the ocean on the other side of that goddamn hill near the Naval base. Oh! The mammaries! Man, we would get stoned there! heh. Indian

We have dinner at our house. Nonono, hell no, I do not do the cooking, Cowboy does. I've invited 12 people & some of them will bring a guest so, I might have about 20 people here. I plan our dinner for late in the day because some of my friends have children & other family they need to spend the day with.

I'll probally have about 12 guests. I was going to order a suckling pig and roast it in my wood oven, but I backed out of it at the last minute. I can't have someone kill a baby pig for me no matter how delicious it would taste.

I've read you talking about your pizza oven, obviously your kitchen is "special" and you enjoy working in it. I'd be interested in reading what a holiday menu at your house consists of. Do you make anything out of the ordinary, something that is reserved for special occasions? That's a serious question. Smiley_emoticons_biggrin

Well the roast piglet was kinda out of the ordinary, but decided I can't do that to a little pig so I'm going to make a turkey in there instead. I guess there is no difference, but for some reason I don't feel as bad about the turkey.

Appetizers will be spinach and feta pie baked in phyllo dough, fried polenta squares with mozzerella, tomato, and basil, and stuffed mushrooms.

The sides will be the traditional stuff. Oyster dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffed acorn squash, yams, homemade macaroni and cheese and greens.

My husband makes the bread and someone else can bring the pies and crap.

i'm cooking for 2 sons and i'll be lucky to get a turkey sandwich later! so i'll cook another damn turkey. i've always cooked 2 since i would give youngest son a bird to take back to college living quarters.

i like this picture of a Pilgrim maid collecting holly~~

big parades of "Pilgrims and Indians" in Plymouth this weekend that the many visitors enjoy, although some of the real Indians protest the holiday.

Since my husband and I are vegetarians, we doing fake chicken, stuffing and a bunch of side dishes. The only thing I'm really putting any effort into is a pumpkin pie. This year it's gonna be just us because we can't leave the dog by herself, so we'll be homebound.

Go fascinate someone else.

I hope you are suitably grateful that it gave its life for you & your boys. Mine is frozen & anonymous, just the way I like it.

i shall pay homage to all his ancestors and the Great Spirit, then i will give all the wild turkeys in my yard a big pile of birdseed!
i will eat his leg with a clear conscience.

That white turkey is fabulous looking! I'd let something like that run around...or maybe not, I don't know what turkey poop is like.

LC - Do you really think it appropriate to roast and devour the savior of the Pilgrims? How about "Lester" or "Phil"?

I dunno - maybe that's what the guys in the Andes did with their friends.

"Amigos! Tonight we eat Bob Stew! Let us pray."

And the Donner party? "Let us give thanks for leg of Louis."

Then there's the whole "giblet" thing.

Just a thought.

Enjoy your meal.

I don't like that word "giblet", I don't like "moist" either.
