We have dinner at our house. Nonono, hell no, I do not do the cooking, Cowboy does. I've invited 12 people & some of them will bring a guest so, I might have about 20 people here. I plan our dinner for late in the day because some of my friends have children & other family they need to spend the day with.
I'll probally have about 12 guests. I was going to order a suckling pig and roast it in my wood oven, but I backed out of it at the last minute. I can't have someone kill a baby pig for me no matter how delicious it would taste.

Well the roast piglet was kinda out of the ordinary, but decided I can't do that to a little pig so I'm going to make a turkey in there instead. I guess there is no difference, but for some reason I don't feel as bad about the turkey.
Appetizers will be spinach and feta pie baked in phyllo dough, fried polenta squares with mozzerella, tomato, and basil, and stuffed mushrooms.
The sides will be the traditional stuff. Oyster dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffed acorn squash, yams, homemade macaroni and cheese and greens.
My husband makes the bread and someone else can bring the pies and crap.
i'm cooking for 2 sons and i'll be lucky to get a turkey sandwich later! so i'll cook another damn turkey. i've always cooked 2 since i would give youngest son a bird to take back to college living quarters.

Since my husband and I are vegetarians, we doing fake chicken, stuffing and a bunch of side dishes. The only thing I'm really putting any effort into is a pumpkin pie. This year it's gonna be just us because we can't leave the dog by herself, so we'll be homebound.
I hope you are suitably grateful that it gave its life for you & your boys. Mine is frozen & anonymous, just the way I like it.
