I'd want to taser the snot out of someone if they spit on me. I would think being a LEO would require a great deal of patience.

I'm tired of reading: "Officers fired over forty rounds at the suspect. The suspect is now being treated for non life threatening wounds at a nearby hospital." Screw the torso. Mandatory head shots or no badge.

shooting at center mass has always been trained at academies, head shots can be very difficult.
also there is no such thing as shoot to wound, if i need to shoot, i have a good reason and they are going to die. better them than me. i have never seen the scenario you describe.

i love this classic true story---
POLK COUNTY FLORIDA SHERIFF GRADY JUDD An illegal alien in Polk County Florida who got pulled over in a routine traffic stop ended up 'executing' the deputy who stopped him. The deputy was shot eight times, including once behind his right ear at close range. Another deputy was wounded and a police dog killed. A state-wide manhunt ensued. The murderer was found hiding in a wooded area and as soon as he took a shot at the SWAT team, officers opened fire on him. They hit the guy 68 times. Naturally, the liberal media went nuts and asked why they had to shoot the poor illegal immigrant 68 times. Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel: 'Because that's all the ammunition we had..'

This is like the criminal Wong here in NC who killed Trooper Blanton. Wong stated that Blanton made an illegal stop and Wong shot Blanton 3 times at close range while Blanton was begging for his life. Wong was a life long criminal, was carrying a gun illegally and towing a trailer without a tag and he felt that was enough to take the life of a Trooper. When he was caught, he wasn't shot, however, I think being shot would have saved tax payers a lot of money. I say shoot them, reload and keep shooting. Bet those liberals would feel differently if it was one of their loved ones shot and killed.

Trooper David Shawn Blanton Jr.
North Carolina Highway Patrol North Carolina End of Watch: Tuesday, June 17, 2008 Biographical Info Age: 24 Tour of Duty: 2 years Badge Number: G-540 Blanton was the first member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians to become a state trooper. Incident Details Cause of Death: Gunfire Date of Incident: Tuesday, June 17, 2008 Weapon Used: Gun; Unknown type Suspect Info: Convicted of first degree murder Trooper David Blanton was shot and killed while making a traffic stop on I-40 near Canton, North Carolina. A struggle ensued during the stop and he was fatally shot. The suspect took Trooper Blanton's service weapon and fled the scene. He was apprehended a short time later by deputies from the Haywood County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Canton Police Department. He was subsequently charged with capital murder. The suspect was convicted of first degree murder on October 14, 2010 and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Trooper Blanton had served with the North Carolina Highway Patrol for 2 years and had previously served as a dispatcher for the Cherokee Tribal Police Department. He is survived by his wife and 2-week-old son. Trooper Blanton's son, Tye, passed away in October 2008 at the age of 4 months. The young son of a slain North Carolina highway patrolman was laid to rest Monday afternoon. Four-and-a-half-month-old Tye Blanton was surrounded by hundreds of people as his family said their final goodbyes. Tye was born prematurely and had several health problems he struggled with from the start. His father Shawn was shot and killed during a traffic stop along I-40 earlier this year. Trooper Shawn Blanton was an enrolled member of the Cherokee, making his son also part of the tribe that said goodbye to the little boy today. Inside a tiny casket marked with is name in Cherokee was a little boy who never weighed more than five pounds. The jury convicted Wong on Oct. 14 in the shooting death of N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper David Shawn Blanton Jr. But jurors could not reach a decision on whether Wong should be put to death or receive a life sentence. As a result, a judge sentenced Wong to life in prison on Nov. 8.

Yes, it is a shame that he was not given the death penalty. Unfortunately, I know one of the jurors who could not decide on the death penalty. To this day, I don't get why. The shooting was caught on Trooper Blanton's car camera. Such a tragedy. This is what we get when we let scum loose.

Back when I was young I was all for the death penalty, but there have been far to many death row inmates who have been set free after DNA proved they didn't do the crime they were convicted of. Also, if you have money and can afford your own attorney you are going to be better off than someone with a overworked public defender. The OJ Simpson trial taught me that. Besides, once someone is dead their troubles are over.
Another thing about the death penalty is it cost the tax payers a lot more to execute a inmate than it does to keep them locked up for the rest of their lives. Those lawyers and all of the appeals they file cost a fortune and it takes forever before the sentence is carried out.

Yeah, dumbass, before they learned to use DNA to CONVICT people of crimes. Think about it for a minute. People convicted now fucking did it. Your argument sucks.

Believe me an officer can go shoot expert on the range every qualification and under the stress which those two decisions create not be able to hit anything but his own car. I have seen city cops shoot their own hood, and I have also seen officers fail to shoot, an officer really does not know how he or she will react until it happens. Head shots are saved for the "double failure" 2 shots to the chest failing to stop the asshole by then the threat is close enough to hit in the head if you're not dead.
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

Actually once someone is convicted & sentenced it's not that easy to get DNA tested. Sixty Minutes profiled a couple stories regarding this. If I wasn't so tired I'd go track them down. I'm all for the death penalty in most cases, that young cop being murdered in such a bold fashion is just such a case. There should be no debating it in examples like that. They had video for christssake.

People don't want to convict now without DNA or fingerprints or some solid shit pointing to guilt. Only older cases, before today's DNA technology, can really be debated. That argument is dying out. These people can't stand on that platform much longer.

I don't think the death penalty is out of the question if the person confesses, for example, the man in Alabama that just killed and dumped his two small children. Or, for Wong, who admitted he killed Blanton and it was caught on camera. What other proof do you need? Fry them, inject them, I don't care. A person should be limited to two appeals. After that, you are put to death, no waiting for 10,15, 20 years.

Create jobs and be a global player.
With all of the garbage we export, why not criminals? Some prisons are privatized in the US and folks scream that the cost is still too high. Incarcerate them in a third world nation. Revoke US citizenship. Max sentence - life. No parole. No death penalty to get the anti-capital punishment folks onboard. |
