Saddam was in the process of buying radioactive isotopes from Africa supplied by I am guessing here the U.S.S.R. I kinda wish that Iraq and Iran could have been drawn into a war against each other through subversivness. But Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Israel were part of the United States "inner circle" and all indications of Iraqs gleanings were shown in Kuwait. The processing of oil was preserved and the crude oil was not an issue. Iran was becoming more westernized at the time and has since done a reversal. They now need their ass kicked. But Iraq, with the money and power they had would have achieved nuclear capabilities by now if they had not been stepped on. Iran has had a free ride for quite a few years now and are laughing at Iraq the "Jewell of the middle east" today. Iraq is ready for fleecing in their eyes. I see them trying to take it as soon as we are gone. From within in the beginning but militarily in the end. The war in Iraq only put off the inevitable.

And I said if your son or daughter was there, you might look at it differently.
That's not the way I read your post but whatever. I hope to HELL if my kids signed up for the military they would follow their orders--wherever those orders might take them, and that they'd serve honorably. I would NOT be one of those parents who spoke out against the military or their mission because I was concerned for my child (at least I hope to hell I wouldn't be). That doesn't mean I wouldn't want to satisfy myself with regards to what they were accomplishing but whether I could or couldn't do that, I would want my kids to honor their commitment.

I would prefer my kids to go in the Navy but that would be me.
