here is brief article from Toledo Blade:
The Lucas County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on the slaying of a young Springfield Township couple to step forward.
Johnny Clarke, 21, and Lisa Straub, 20, were found dead inside Ms. Straub’s parents’ Longacre Lane home on Jan. 31. The two were found with their wrists bound by duct tape and plastic bags covering their heads.
Investigators have said they believe the pair were killed in an apparent robbery attempt that occurred while Ms. Straub’s parents were out of the country on a Caribbean cruise.
Parts of the house had been ransacked, causing investigators to suspect the killers were looking for something.
The sheriff’s office has said they believe this was not a random act of violence, and that Ms. Straub and Clarke were targeted.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the Crime Stopper program. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.

This seems like bad news to me, the 17,000 dollar reward should be enough for someone to step forward. This must mean the DNA and fingerprints are back and no matches, IMO. The Toledo Blade article posted above by LC, IMO, is telling me that LE needs help and pretty much cant solve this crime yet, all evidence must be back for LE to make such a claim. All IMO.

IMO It says the crime was more organized and planned and executed in a cold deliberate way, absent of passion. That this was not the first time the perps committed such a crime and it won't be the last. I don't know how intensely LE is trying to solve this, but I think they recognize the importance of getting these perps off the street. Maybe they need to disclose some facts they are witholding so the public interest will reignite.

Doesn't say much, does it. Hoping that LE has their sights set, is all I can say.

Anyone that knows anything about police will tell you that two months isnt anything. THIS IS A DOUBLE HOMICIDE PEOPLE!!! Your comments about the LE having nothing and this case is cold is pure ignorance. The true meaning of ignorance it the lack of knowledge. This case is not tv's CSI or Criminal Minds... This is a brutal double homicide. LE is not rushing into this for the sake of an arrest. Cant you see that? The FBI is involved, the forensics take time. This was a very bloody and brutal crime scene. Each drop of blood in anayzed. Each centimeter of the duct taped stripped and gone over. This is not done in a few weeks. Each story rehashed.
I didn't say this was a cold case or the cops have nothing. How would I know what they have? I would guess they have plenty. I said I didn't think the killers are the hoodrats we've discussed. I'm no cop but I would be awfully surprised if a murder case not even three months old would be considered "cold".
Oh, and I've never watched CSI so I'm not even an armchair cop. So, you're right, I'm ignorant on how a murder investigation is done.

i think the toledo blade "article" was pablum for the public.
and i do not think the case is cold at all. some people watch too much TV. i have seen murder investigations go for years. until they have the RIGHT person(s) and all the evidence needed to take to DA or grand jury and trial. i sure haven't given up on this case being solved.

We had a police officer murdered (shot in back of head) at his own home in a very small town (pop. 6,000). Everyone was positive it was his wife, but like this case it drug on and on - thought it was a cold case. A little over two years after the murder, the wife was arrested for murder. So even in a town this small, it took what seemed like forever.
This case is definitely not cold - yet.

LC, Do you have an opinion as to how 'deep' this case goes?
As in layers? Or do you think it is a plain and simple, cut
and dried, "I hate you because, therefore you are going to die.
And we are going to do it." case?
How about my fellow mockers? Opinions?

i don't even think it was as banal as "hate". i think it was unplanned murders that escalated from a mundane robbery. i said this back at the beginning, i have not changed my opinion.

I'll laugh for you, hahafuckingha. I stopped having compassion for her when she began to wish a similar fate as her sons on others, wishing it on random people, people that she doesn't even know if they are involved or not. She's as fuckin' clueless in this case as everyone else, everyone from the gossip mongers to the cops in charge of the investigation. No one knows anything...except for the killer/s.
