Vice President Omar Suleiman announced the resignation on state television and said he was transferring authority to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces to "run the affairs of the country."
Tens of thousands of emotional anti-government protesters erupted in deafening cheers on the streets of Cairo after the announcement.
"Egypt is free!" they chanted.

Holy Shit! I fell asleep watching some of this last night. I really did not think he would leave & our country was pressuring him to clarify what his intentions were.

I dont think he planned to resign but this morning early as the protesters started blocking off the Government offices and violence started breaking out,he probly figured they were coming for him or it was really going to start getting ugly and the military may have said for him to get the fuck out and be done, so he left the country with his family and then a hour or so later,...sent the word that he was stepping down.

Hope like hell it aint us that takes him in.
Switzerland says it will keep him from getting any money he has tucked away there but this guy has millions all over the place.He wont be hurting and will live the high life somewhere.
Now,if the protesters had of gotten their hands on him,...he may not have lived out his life so comfortably...

I don't have a good feeling about all this. You can't just say, "We are a democracy now" and expect it to be smooth sailing.
Maybe we can make some money on the deal and pay off China.

Although the Muslim Brotherhood says they only want to be a part of the process and not up for a chance in the higher levels,just the fact they are there is an explosive problem.
Iran is celebrating in the streets.
The Military is the primary factor in running the country and has been for many years.They are not controlled by the President as it is here.The fact that the Military basically choose to side with the protesters was a good thing but this countries government is now up for grabs.
How what happens here and how it bleeds off to their neighbors is a really serious concern.
Tomorrow they will go back to work and try to go about their lives but what goes on behind the scenes now is very dangerous and unpredictable.
I doubt it will turn out very good for the US and Allies...at least for quite a few years to come...

We knew this was coming, I think. That is why we are deploying so heavily to northern African countries right now. This shit was brewing for a while.
