I think of racist people as believing that ALL of a certain group are a certain way. The vast majority of poor in our area are Hispanics and the vast majority of crime in our area is committed by Hispanics. Does that mean there aren't great, contributing Hispanic families in the community? No.
I'm stating the obvious. To summarize, generalizing based on statistics/facts isn't being racist. Hating an entire group of people because of the actions of some (or even their majority) is.
I don't think you're racist. I think you hate welfare abusing slobs (of every nationality) that won't do shit to help themselves.

Regarding Dick's posts, I think there is some truth there about opportunity. I've spent a lot of time in my kids' classrooms over the years. Beginning in kindergarten, I was AMAZED by the number of kids who showed up late, didn't bring in homework, regularly missed school, got in to trouble etc. etc. I've watched those some kids over the years and it just continues and seems to get worse. These kids started out their lives with parents that don't give a fuck about education and don't have any expectations for their kids. Will they be able to go to college? Maybe a community college but hell, they've been brought up to have little regard for school. I agree that at some point, we have to take responsibility for ourselves but I feel badly for these kids--they're fucked from the gate and they don't even know it.

oppressed people who spend generations in that state forget how to achieve, the parents don't know so they can't teach their kids, even if they want more for them, they have no way to impart that desire to them.
It's a learned response not a genetic mutation that causes generational poverty.

They have teachers in the schools to help them. They don't just leave them to their own devices all day.
Does it make it harder on a person to be raised that way? YES. But it isn't a death sentence. People aren't animals that are bound by their training. We have free will. Any person that desires more or better DOES have the option. Generational poverty isn't written in stone. There are too many success stories of people who rose above the circumstance of their birth and early life and now live productive, happy lives.
It's a trap. If you allow yourself an out, most weak-minded people will take it. If you hold yourself to a higher standard, you can overcome anything. Even if your parents are shit.

THAT is why education is the great equalizer. You just have to have the desire and be willing to work a little harder than those born with automatic advantages.
Nobody is oppressed anymore. I wish you would stop saying that. I don't have any slaves. Taxpayers are feeding about a third of this country so they can sleep all effen day and play video games all night. Not an oppressor/oppressed situation. Excuses, excuses.
Impoverished and undereducated would be more accurate descriptions.
If anything, I am their fucking oppressed slave. I am busting my ass so they can lay around all day and reproduce like fucking rabbits.

Have you heard about California schools? Yes, the teachers teach what they can in the classroom but if it's not reinforced outside of school, if the kids aren't doing their homework etc., they're failing. If I just let my kids do whatever the hell they wanted, they'd be failing (or at least they wouldn't be getting straight A's and such--I have REALLY high expectations).
You said: "If you hold yourself to a higher standard, you can overcome anything". I agree but at what age does this wisdom come? I know of very few kids who are highly self-motivated.
I agree, it's not a death sentence and when you hit adulthood, it's up to you regardless of your upbringing. People can and do pull themselves up out of shit circumstances. I STILL think it's a fucked up way to start life.

Holy shit, you're not racist, you're ignorant.
Teachers don't give a shit about the struggling student, they spend their time with the achievers, those who have a hard time in school are deemed (special education) needs children, or those who act up because they see others getting the attention who really don't need it because their parents are involved are ignored even further by the teachers because they act up.
I dealt with some of this shit when my kids were in school, I actually had a teacher call me on the second day of school and tell me that my kid was not going to make it in his class, I set up a meeting on the 3 rd day of school with him and the principle and I ripped his ass up that silly sumbitch learned a little bit that day He was required to see to it that every kid made it in his class, after all it's his job to reach all the kids right not just his favorites, by the way that particular kid was a skater, he dressed different and wore his hair different, talked different but he was not a bad kid and was absolutely not dumb and unable to learn this teacher just got all fucked up by appearance and forgot that their was a kid under that shit.
teachers are no different than anyone else, they want the recognition of the over achievers in their class, they want to be associated with a student winning the scholarship, they don't have time to spend with the ones who really need them.

My best friend of 12 years is a teacher. You are full of shit. That was the biggest bunch of bullshit I have ever read. Schools have to spend most of their budgets for special education students. It is the "regular" students that get fucked. You are talking out of your ass.
She spends tons of her own money on her students. She buys most of the paper and pencils for them. I bought her a bunch of stuff at the beginning of the year to give her students because their parents can't be bothered. Most of the parents she only meets ONE TIME, at open house. She said most of them change their cell phone numbers or their phones get disconnected so she can't ever reach them.
She has been a teacher for around twenty years. She hates her job now. She said all she does now is work her ass off for the special ed parents because they want all the attention for their kids because they fucked them at home and want someone to fix them and they have the law on their side. A majority of the kids have to sit in classrooms with a few fucked up kids getting all the attention all day. She told me schools are fucked now and she hates sending her kid to school while she works because she knows about the little hoodlums her kid has to deal with.
One of my kids came home from kindergarten with a story about a boy stabbing her teacher with a pencil. I would have fucked him up.

It's called "no child left behind". What a crock. Gotta raise those damn test scores for the lowest performing students.
We need more vocational/trade schools for kids that have fucked up all the way through highschool.

If a school called me about one of my kids, I would have knocked them out, not gone to the school and bitched. That is what is wrong with people. They think they are too special to follow the rules. They think they deserve special treatment. I hate that I still have one that has to deal with other people's kids. I wish I didn't work so I could homeschool.
I did ask my friend about the best school in the county and that's where I bought a house. There aren't very many shits at that school as far as I can tell, but there are enough that I hear stories almost every day. Mine knows better. I don't put up with that shit. Period.

This is going to come as a huge surprise (haha) but my kids would be dumb as dirt if I homeschooled them. It's not just all the crap I've forgotten since I was in school, it's that I'm borderline ADD myself. I spend an hour with them on homework and shit and I'm DONE. Hats off to people that succesfully homeschool--multiple root canals sound more pleasant to me.

Fuck you cracker, I gave you minimal info and you think it was the kids fault, you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem.

I do know a little about vocational/adult education programs. The funding has been cut severely in the last ten years, by over half (most were federally funded). State colleges and universities got super screwed last year and are expecting it again for this year. That means parents will have to pay more for their children to get an education (unless you are on welfare).
No Child Left Behind is one of those laws that is geared at dragging my high-achieving child down to mediocrity. It places the blame on schools when it is really a home issue. Seventy to eighty percent of a child's educational achievement is directly related to home life and parent education level. Dumb parents raise dumb kids. How schools are supposed to fix that shit is beyond me.

Here's how I read that: My kid was already in trouble two days after school started. That's all I needed to know.
Cracker doesn't play that shit. I would fuck one of mine up. I have attended a few graduations, so I know the method works. hahaha
As I have said before, I can maintain my lane and fuck a kid up in the back seat. Mine do NOT shame me in public. At home, we are relaxed and half crazy, but that shit does NOT leave the home. That is the first lesson any kid should learn: home behavior and outside behavior. They are not the same.

Teachers don't have one or two kids to deal with. I don't know how old your son was at the time, but the teacher had between 30 and 200 kids a day to deal with. I don't always agree with what every teacher does (white teacher slapped Curtis), but they have to manage a shitload of kids everyday, so I make sure mine get with the program. I figure they will have a boss someday they may hate and they will have to get with that program, too.
Suprisingly, mine have all survived so far.

I couldn't agree more. The schools are being forced to teach to the lowest level to get those damn test scores up. It's completely fucked up.

So much for facts , the teacher wanted him to cut his hair and get rid of the skater clothes or don't come back to his class, when my son told him he could dress as he was (well within the school dress code) the teacher called me to tell me that he would not be able to get along with my son and wanted to change him to a different class.
you can eat shit, but America is still free, I also told you he forgot that there was a kid inside the clothes, your blinders didn't allow you to see everything.
I raised 6 kids cracker, 2 girls and 4 boys, each had their own personalities, and each had their own faults and their own attributes, this teacher was just like you, blinded by his own prejudices.
one other thing I told you, I didn't ask for special privileges for my son, the teacher was taught that it's his job to reach whatever kids enter his classroom, not reject those he finds personally different than the stereotype he wanted to teach.

Is this a Catholic school or private school? I can't imagine a public school DARING to go there. I take back my previous comment if that is the case. I think because I see the shit my friend has to go through with parents and really bad kids, I try not to make waves unless it is major shit. That is pretty major.
I like kids. You don't have to defend yours to me. I know there are fucked up teachers. We had one last year. I hated that bitch. I was glad when the year was over. I'm stuck with the work thing, though. I like my own kids and wouldn't mind spending all day at home, but that isn't how it worked out for me.
BUT, I wouldn't sit on my ass and collect welfare because I am able to work. Maybe that is part of the reason I resent people who do that. I would LOVE to homeschool and spend the time with the littlest one. But I wouldn't live in the projects or a reduced-rate apartment and use food stamps because I want to stay home. Supporting my family is my responsibility.
