I laugh at people being so concerned with Genetically Modified or Engineered crops. If you people knew what herbicides and pesticides REALLY did, you would have to withdraw your arguments and STFU. Cross pollination ALSO changes the genetic makeup of the daughter species, it just happens between more closely-related species.

I don't claim to be an expert, but I understand the historical, natural, and technological influences on Earth's systems. As such, we CANNOT feed ourselves using only natural means, and haven't been able to for a long time.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Some people genuinely seem to think that GM foods are literally Frankenstein like creations created to destroy us all, gigantic poisonous tomatoes and kidney beans laced with aids and cancer. Glow in the dark wheat and apples you can have conversations with before you eat them.

And you seem to have missed that this rice that the lawsuit was over ended up in europe.

It is not edible, and that's the bottom line of the lawsuit.

You crack me up.

and cracker is deflecting, natural in the sense that is being spoken of has nothing to do with hunter gatherer history, it has to do with genetically modified food.

It's not necessary and at this point completely reckless and dangerous to our ability to produce edible food.

Did you happen to notice the little part about seed that has not been influenced by this food disaster?

OP, you're a rottweiler anyway, all you need is a can of alpo. hahhah

I'm not deflecting. Herbicides and pesticides, along with other chemicals we introduce into our food supply, have been changing crops genetically for the last hundred years. You just don't realize it.

Our bodies are biological magnifiers. Our body fat and livers store chemicals and additives our entire lives. There is no "safe dose" of anything. Every single substance is toxic. Using this logic, I am simply stating people should be MORE concerned with what we put on our foods if they are worried about genetic alteration.

Did I mention I have a minor in Industrial Technology? I understand FULLY what I'm talking about.

(Cracker KICKS ASS at bar trivia. If I could find a partner who knew everything about sports, I would hit the circuit. hahaha)

Ya, it was impressive the first time, it's just bragging now.

Did I mention that I have more than 20 years of practical experiance in industrial technology?

But hell I'm sure the books were good reading.

You don't think an insignificant thing like that is going to stop dick when he is in full blown righteous indignation mode do you?

dick would argue about morality with Confucius.

It was Environmental Science the first time, minor Ind. Tech. the second time. hahahahaha

Y'all can think what you want. Unless you grow your own food, and add NOTHING to it, you are eating some engineered shit.

And we CANNOT feed the world with just natural, organic farming methods. That is why organic foods are so expensive. They use more land/resources to produce than just shoving a chicken in a cage and feeding it dead cows... Did I mention I rarely eat chicken? Fucking nasty...

hah You're an idiot.

as long as this shit keeps going your way, then it's all good.

Cracker forgot to mention that in the last 100 years the government pays the farmers not to grow food, maybe that plays a part in the expense?

Oh and then you know I'm sure this is trivial ,but corn is also being used for methanol, now I'm sure that using a food source for gasoline is a good idea some how?

hah

I have to be honest, that degree is over 20 years old. I switched to another field long ago. It wasn't wasted learning, though. I could tell Al Gore was a douche right off the bat...

Everybody should read up on what herbicides and pesticides do to us genetically. I suggest Rachel Carson because she will hold your interest.

Shitstorm challenged the notion that we use technology to enable our population to eat. That was just stupid. I will point to the great Potato Famine and Dust Bowl as examples of this. We cannot survive with this many people by just using natural methods. We cannot sustain this population without soil degradation, endangering our water supply, and forcing other forms of life into extinction. I stand behind that. Not as a conspiracy theorist, but as a graduate. hahahaha
