Dyersburg State Gazette - The Dyer County Sheriff's Department recovered an unidentified body on Saturday afternoon but they are releasing few details at this time. The sheriff's department is confirming only that a body has been recovered, refusing to even speculate on the sex of the deceased.
Speculation began to swirl that the body was possibly that of Karen Swift, the missing mother of four who was last reportedly seen in the early morning hours of Sunday, Oct. 30. Box would not confirm that it was Swift or anyone else until the medical examiner's office has identified the body and the next of kin have been notified.
"All we can confirm at this time is that we have recovered an unidentified body that will have to be identified by the medical examiner's office," said Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box. "Due to the state of decomposition to the body it will be sent to the medical examiner's office in Memphis. They will compare dental records that we have to Ms. Swift to determine if there is a positive identification."
Sheriff's deputies set up two roadblocks on Harness Road, approximately one mile apart from one another, on Saturday afternoon. The second roadblock pictured above is located where Craig Road meets Harness Road.

According to Box, the medical examiner's office will most likely have identification results by Monday as well as a cause of death. As of Saturday around 7 p.m. the body had not been moved from its original location as the sheriff's department is waiting on the arrival of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Violent Crime Response Team. The body was found at an undisclosed location in Dyer County sometime on Saturday. Box would not confirm at what time the body was found or who made the discovery. Although Box is not stating where the body was found, two roadblocks were set up by sheriff's deputies approximately one mile apart from one another. The first roadblock was located where Burnt Mill Road meets Harness Road off Highway 78 and a second roadblock was located where Craig Road and Harness Road meet.
Swift's 2004 white Nissan Murano, which was found on Millsfield Highway on Sunday, Oct. 30 with a flat tire, has been in Nashville for processing by the TBI. The car was returned to the Sheriff's Department on Friday, Dec. 9; a final report from TBI is still pending. The Sheriff's Department is continuing to evaluate evidence retrieved from Swift's car at this time. TBI has a DNA analyst and a data analyst assisting the sheriff's department with the case.

confirmation from ME, sad Christmas for the family.
Investigators said Swift was murdered, though they won't say how.
DYERSBURG, TN (abc24.com) - A body found in Dyersburg, Tennessee on December 10, 2011 has been identified as 44-year old Karen Swift.
Karen Swift, a mother of four, disappeared Sunday, October 30, 2011. Her car was found about a mile away from her Dyersburg home with a flat tire, but no other clues. Crews searched the area for weeks with bloodhounds and on horseback but found no sign of Swift.
Her body was found less than 5 miles from the Swift family home.
Investigators said the body was badly decomposed and was positively identified by the medical examiner's office in Memphis on December 12, 2011, according to the TBI.
Swift was in the middle of a divorce but the two still lived together. Investigators never named her husband as a suspect.
"He doesn't have that type of heart," a friend of the family, Angela Naifeh, told abc24.com in November. "He loved her. He didn't want the divorce. They've already been through one prior. He's a good person who is heartbroken and crushed and doesn't know what to do."
TBI searched the family home, retrieved phone records, and other evidence was sent to a crime lab. This case has made national news.

Volunteers searching for a missing North Carolina mother of two found a woman's body in a wooded area Sunday afternoon.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the body is that of 50-year-old Edwardyne "Dynee" Williams who was last seen over the Thanksgiving weekend WRAL-TV reported.
The body is being sent to the chief medical examiner's office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy according to the station.
Williams, who has two daughters disappeared Nov. 27. Investigators reportedly found her abandoned SUV about a week ago along Chicken Foot Road in Cumberland County about 2 miles from her home. Williams' children said the vehicle was found along a road she would not have traveled.
Family members told the station that Williams' purse was found hanging on a nearby tree and her house keys and cellphone were inside the vehicle. The key to her white Isuzu Rodeo was reportedly missing.
Volunteers discovered the body close to the roadway off Canady Pond Roada day after a special K-9 team from Tennessee arrived in North Carolina to assist in the search according to the station.
Williams' older daughter Tabitha Joneshad told the station that she knew something was wrong when she left her mother a message about her upcoming graduation and didn't hear back.
"Call text nothing. Her phone was off" the 24-year-old said.
"You want to believe she is going to walk through that door" she said prior to the news a body had been found.
Williams' husband died Dec. 18, 2010 but family members say they hadn't noted any signs of depression in their mother in connection with the upcoming anniversary according to the station.
Williams' daughters have said they suspect foul play in their mother's disappearance.

Sheriff Jeff Box
The Sheriff's Office and District Attorneys office have reviewed the results of autopsy which is sealed under a court order while we conduct the ongoing investigation. This Investigation has been a very detailed, complex and intense investigation from the start which has developed much evidence that required lab work. We have received lab results from much of the evidence submitted but are still awaiting DNA processing and results of additional evidence that has been sent to the TBI Crime Lab. We do feel we have recovered evidence that will be beneficial in completing the investigation. While we await the processing of additional evidence, our agency working along with the TBI will continue the investigation to attempt to gather all possible evidence that will be beneficial in seeking arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this homicide.
If you have any information about this case you may call the Dyer County Sheriff's Office at 731-285-2802, email: [email protected] or contact the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.

No body - no arrest - no clues - nothing. It's like she's fallen off the face of the earth.
I'm only thinking about her because I've been reading about the brother who killed his sister & Hot D's question of "what would you do if it were your kids", that's not verbatim.

That's right. This is the case where the brother said an individual made off with his sister while he watched.

Doubt it, but who knows.
I'd be interested to know how his family has treated him since her disappearance.

REWARD TERMS MODIFIED
Karen BoBo, Holly’s mother, told the paper the family decided to “reword the reward” in case somebody in withholding key information in the case. She said a lot of tips have been turned in but not the right one yet.
Holly was last seen being dragged across her home's carport and into nearby woods. Her older brother said he witnessed it happening and called 911.
The reward was previously offered to anyone with information that would lead to the safe return of the 20-year-old nursing student, but now it is offered for information on the alleged captor. Karen Bobo told the paper, “We may have to find out who took Holly before we can find Holly.”
The mother reportedly asked people to look into their hearts in the spirit of the holidays and think of anything that might help bring Holly back home.
Rewards offered prior to the $250K have been voided as of Dec. 11, according to the paper.

Damn I feel so sorry for her parents. I wish someone could come forward and give LE the info they need to find Holly and close this case. I check up on the progress of this case once every couple of months and nothing new has been reported for a year now.

Such a bizarre story. Sometimes I think her brother is behind her disappearance.
