Newt throws his hat in the ring
#1
It took awhile, but Newt Gingrich is officially a candidate for the presidency in 2012. The former House speaker made the announcement via Twitter and Facebook Wednesday.

I'm not ruling anyone out yet (except Sarah Palin) but I really think the Republican party needs to get some new blood in there. Romney, Huckabee, Gingrich and even Ron Paul...it just seems like the same people regurgitating over and over again.

I think it would help the Republican party garner more of the 18-25 y/o vote if they trotted out someone in their 40's (expecially since they're running against Obama). Yeah, I know that's agist; sue me. Anyway, regardless of age, I think someone new and inspiring (or at least able to read a teleprompter well) would be good for the party.

I kinda wish Hillary would run. I'm liking her more and more lately. She's got big balls.

I was just reading about him. Does he have any charisma? I realize politics shouldn't be about charisma but sometimes it is. Ronnie had it. I seem to recall this guy responding to some speech made by Obama and he seemed really flat (and I don't think his speech went over that well).

I remember him as flat and lifeless. He appeared Feb 25, 2009 to give the Republican Party's official response to an Obama address about the federal debt.

Horny Patriot: hah

In response to a question about his two marriage-ending affairs, each of which occurred while his respective wives struggled with illness, Gingrich told the Christian Broadcasting Network's David Brody that there were times, when "partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country... I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate." Will voters buy what Slate's Emily Yoffe calls Gingrich's "horny patriot" excuse?

Gingrich can't recover from this: "If Gingrich thinks the public will find this persuasive, he's completely lost his mind," says Steve Benen at Washington Monthly. He isn't the first admitted adulterer to seek the presidency, but blaming his "scandalous personal life" on patriotism is just insulting.

That is exactly the kind of hypocritical shit that Republican kool aid drinkers like dick lap up!

He's a shoe in!

I wonder if Bill Clinton should have tried the same schtick?

"I did have sexual relations with that woman, but I only did it because my passion for my country spilled over and stained her skirt".
