If they're good people, race doesn't matter to me.

I posted in another thread, I kind of hope neither of my kids are gay not so much because of the ick factor but more because there's still bigotry against gays, they're not allowed to marry etc.

I don't know if interracial couples are the subject of a lot of bigotry but I guess, if they are, I'd have some similar concerns for my kids if they were involved with someone outside their race.

I'd hazard a guess that an Asian man (or woman) with a white mate would face less bigotry than a white/black couple. Is that literally because the skin colors are closer or is it that people tend to be more racist towards black people? I'm guessing that latter...

I would have to say I "think" its because of skin color. People think right off the bat. Smiley_emoticons_shocked gangster? druggie? rapist? robber? I have always truly wondered that myself.

Maybe it goes the other way too. Maybe black some black people would be more upset about a black person marrying a white person vs. an Asian or Hispanic.

I'm rambling. My daughter stole my computer so that last post was thrown up there without much thought. I'd like to add though that even if I had some misgivings, I highly doubt I'd ever express them (unless one of my kids was involved with someone really horrid). If they were in love/happy, I'd keep my mouth shut.

I have an interesting perspective. I grew up in the wonderful 60's when the only other "race" there was to be bigoted against were blacks. And my parents were very bigoted (some of my dads good friends were black..you know). I grew up under that umbrella....and I feel that caused me to be more open and accepting today...towards blacks, gays..etc. BUT, while I profess tto be open minded..I once said no to a date with a black friend...and a small part of me had to honestly say I said no because he was black. So that goes against my open mindedness, I guess.
But I grew up in a small town..where I did not even MEET my first black person until I was about 13....we were classmates, and ended up being friends through graduation. BUT, about the time we were sophomores, I was out with my mom..and ran into this guy. We stopped, said hello and started talkig about our math class..we were both doing poorly. My mom practically had a stroke right there on Main Street. How DARE I stop and talk with a N**** in broad daylight. What if people thought we were datin
g **GASP** For crissake..we were standing 4 feet apart, talking about school

JsMom, if memory serves me (and it often doesn't lately) you're white and you prefer to fuck black guys, right? And you actually advertise that fact on your FB page, I think.

Isn't that kind of...racist?

Makes this whole post kind of ironic.

Wassup with that?

I just remember the rule in our house was that we could not date
anyone 'who had a funny person in the family.'

Does that mean gay or crazy? You can't "catch" gay, but even odds if you come from crazy.

My mom told me if you don't kiss "them" then you won't marry "them". I would have been disowned, for sure.

My kids? Is Mexican a different race? Both of my daughters kissed Mexicans and the oldest married one. The youngest gave me an amazing grandson that is looking more and more Mexican everyday. But his daddy, the stupid Mexican that he was, forgot to look both ways and ran out in the road in the path of a vehicle. After 9 days in ICU his momma gave the okay to pull the plug.

Bleached comes to mind with some of the mixed race kids I know. Especially the red-headed frizzly looking ones. Can't blame the kids tho.

WTH?

Are you for or against our brown neighbors? I can't tell. How is the little one "looking more and more Mexican?" Did somebody buy him a sombrero?

You want a mate for your child with an education yet you seem to be lacking in some education. "I do not want no drama"...."It wouldn't make a fuck to me either"

JsMom you commented in another post that when people see a black man they immediately think of gangsta, drugs, rape and robbery. You told User Name that it was not because of racism, but that sounds pretty racist to me! BTW have you found that sugar daddy for your "Big and beautiful" self ? I know you've been struggling to find someone that is interested to no avail.

Sorry everyone...I know I'm being a post whore , but i haven't been able to figure out how to put several different quotes in one post. I tried but it wouldn't work for me

I come from a white Catholic background, at one time it would have been a scandal for me to be involved with a divorced man who is not Catholic. One didn't have relationships outside their religion let alone outside their race. That extreme strictness is slowly dying through the years, I'd bang a Protestant but not a black.

I did joke about doing that. Dressing him up in a pancho and a sombrero for pictures to give to Grandpa C. My ex has a huge problem with his two daughters hooking up with Mexicans. Of course, it was all my fault. But me, I just don't like gangbangers and illegals. Which is mostly what Mexicans are in my town.

I feel you. Weak people have to form gangs in order to gain any semblence of respect. The rest of us know that respect is earned, not forced.

There are some good looking Hispanic men who have assimilated into our American culture. I probably wouldn't be too upset if someone brought home a man like that. If a person with a bandana and gang tats tried to enter my home, I wouldn't allow it. Unless they had painting supplies. That is allowed. haha
