PUYALLUP, Wash. - A small army of detectives arrived Thursday afternoon to search the Puyallup home of Josh Powell, the husband of missing mom Susan Powell, officials said.

Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said about 20 detectives were involved in the search. Half of them are with the Pierce County Sheriff and the others are with the West Valley City Police Department in Utah.

Josh Powell, 35, and his father, Steve Powell, are being detained outside the home while investigators execute a search warrant, Troyer said.

Crime scene tape surrounds the home, and a large police forensics van is parked out front of the house.

Since this search warrant was executed. Maybe He will be taking the kids and his sexually weird dad on another "spontaneous" camping trip. Maybe where his wife is buried! Freak!

I heard last night that one of the children has said " mommy is in the cave" Have the police checked into this, talked to this child even though he is young?

It's wild that the Sherffs' Dept has a twitter account....

Anyway, I wonder what evidence they were looking for 2 years after her reported disappearance? And why they think it would still be hanging around the house?

i don't believe that for one minute.

how can this nasty man talk that trash about his son's wife?

what is he REALLY up to?

is he trying to create a big fat red herring to distract from son's murder of his wife?

that's what i believe is going on. collusion.

i think both those disgusting assholes will end up in shackles. i can't wait.

Reportedly (according to an ABC news source), among the docs the police were searching for are Susan's teen journals and diary. If hope they found them. The Powells threatening to publish them is beyond low, typical for them.

At least three computers and four boxes of material were removed from the home by detectives.

"We came here to look for a few things, and we found a lot of the things we were looking for," said Lt. Bill Merritt.

The search revolves around the teen journals and diaries of Susan Powell that are now in possession of Josh and Steven Powell, according to an ABC News source.

When contacted by KOMO News Thursday afternoon, the missing woman's father, Chuck Cox did not know detectives were searching Josh Powell's home.

"Twenty? Wow, OK," he said, sighing heavily. "They've confirmed enough to execute a search warrant. They're just following another lead, as far as I know. But the fact that they have that large of a team doing that extensive of a search - or what I hope is an extensive search - is very encouraging."

There was a good piece about Susan's case on TODAY this morning. It covers the search details, allegations made by Steve Powell, clip of an interview with Josh Powell on Dateline last night where he confirms they were primarily looking for Susan's journals, Steve Powell's daughter's support of Susan...

Videos, journals were taken from home, Steven Powell says
Friday, Aug. 26, 2011

PUYALLUP, Wash. — Steven Powell says pictures, videos and journals belonging to both himself and his missing daughter-in-law, Susan Cox Powell, were taken by West Valley police during an 8 ½ hour search of his home Thursday.

Steven Powell, who was in Kennewick, Wash., most of Thursday while the warrant was being served, made his first comments regarding the search on Friday morning.

West Valley police and Pierce County sheriff's deputies in Washington arrived at the home of Steven Powell about 2:45 p.m. Thursday. They were about to end the search at 9:45 p.m., when a discussion during their final briefing prompted them to give a potential piece of evidence one final look, said West Valley Police Lt. Bill Merritt.

In doing so, investigators ended up finding additional information and searching Powell's home for another 90 minutes. West Valley police didn't wrap up their search until about 11:15 p.m.

So relieved that LE got Susan's journals out of the Powells' hands! Sounds like they found more evidence than they expected. Starting to get my hopes up that justice for Susan is coming soon...

Search for Susan Powell suddenly escalates
By Jennifer Dobner, Mike Baker

Police said the plan to search Powell's home had been in the works for a while -- since before a recent search through abandoned mines in Nevada. A few investigators thoroughly examined a van in the driveway, looking through every CD, flipping through scraps of paper and examining under seats.

Investigators declined to discuss what pieces of evidence they gathered.

"What we have here today will help us draw closer to a conclusion," Merritt said. "Whether it's the conclusion that everybody wants and hopes for, we don't know. It may be a conclusion that nobody wants to admit could happen."

The search came just hours after the case spiraled into an emotional saga pitting one side of Susan Powell's family against the other.

Josh Powell's father, Steve Powell, claimed in a nationally televised interview on Thursday that he had a flirtatious relationship with his daughter-in-law -- something her parents adamantly denied, saying Steve Powell initiated unwanted sexual advances toward her.

Steve Powell told reporters outside the home Friday morning that investigators told him they were looking for Susan Powell's journals -- and they took his journals, as well.

"I didn't want them to have my journals," he told KOMO-TV. "There's very embarrassing things in my journals."

Tough shit Stevie. You didn't mind threatening to publish Susan's teenage journals before LE took them. POS... Knowing him though, he might have put a bunch of false stuff in his journals to disparage Susan and wanted his journals to be found. Why hold onto them? I don't trust the snake.

my sincere hope now, aside from arrest(s) of course, is that there is enough on the computers etc. taken from the house to remove the kids from their foul custody.

I hope so too.

I read some comments to an on-line article. A couple of readers commented that they sincerely hoped George and Cindy Anthony would assist the Cox's to get the children. I'm sure they were well-meaning, but I thought that was a terrible effing idea. Last thing the Cox's need are the As. Crossing my fingers that there's enough incriminating crap in Steve Powell's journals to get those kids out of his house and out of Josh Powell's custody. JMO...

it seems josh took off "camping" at midnight on friday with the boys again. i think he's running.

Scott Burgen, who lives in the Powell neighborhood, put a makeshift memorial for Susan Cox Powell on the edge of the Powells' corner lot property. Two pictures of Susan and a candle were placed on the lawn Friday along with a sign with the words, "Her blood cries out from the Earth for justice (for Susan)."

They just played clips on Inside Edition of some of the songs Steve Powell wrote, allegedly about Susan. They were sickening! Here are some lyrics:

I could be getting a mistaken impression, each time you seem to gaze at me

You make my eyes pop out of their sockets

I can love you in a secret way, I can love you each and every day

Disgusting!!

Detectives, with the help of six cadaver dogs, are scouring an area around the town of Delta, 130 miles southwest of Powell's home in the Salt Lake City suburb of West Valley City.

"We're very hopeful that we'll come up with something but we just don't know at this point whether we will or not," West Valley City police Lt. Bill Merritt tells Fox 13 News.
