All I want to do is change Internet and phone service....
#1
So why did it take a full week, and hours of phone calls to do it? So, here it is..right now I have Vonage for phone and Road Runner for the interwebz. DirecTV for TV. Between all three, we are shelling out almost $300 a month. That because Hubby has all the bells and whistles on his TV Hubby says...go see if we can do better.
Call DirecTV, OK, as a loyal customer we will give you $20 a month off for 6 months..and oh BTW..you can bundle your net and phone through us, we will give you another $15 off for 12 month. OK, fine, hook us up. So, in OUR area, they tell me they bundle with Frontier (Verizon in some areas). THEY will charge us $63 for the phone and net. Lets get you hooked up..and oh yes, you keep your phone number and all.
Next night, I get a phone call...from Frontier, Can't keep your phone number...it shows being assigned to a business not to you. Me..listen, I live in a goddamn TRAILER here..no business...and I have had this number almost 20 years. An hour later, they say, sorry,,we do not know..all we see is that it is assigned to a business.
We will call you back tomorrow.
Tomorrow comes and goes..no call. So I call back. Get some girl, explain the situation. So, she says..who is your phone service again..Vonage. Just a sec, she says...can I call you right back? OK,,,20 minutes later she calls, says GOT it...because of the way Vonage bills, it comes up at Frontiers end that ours is a business number. But, MY number nonetheless. Let me see what we need to do...can I call you back tomorrow? OK
Yesterday, she calls back, after another hour on the phone, all is settled..I can get rid of Vonage, and oh yeah, because of the hassles, am getting the internet for free for 6 months, and at a discount for another 6 months.
Here is the thing...why after 3 phone calls with other people, they did not make the Vonage connection...and this lady did it in the first 30 minutes of my call to her?
Good god.

It's the fabled DAITC issue on your end would be my guess.
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

I don't trust bundles. If one service goes out, aren't they all out?

I don't think I need a home phone. We don't use it. The ringer is always turned off and I never, I mean a few years, check the voicemail. I may cancel it.

I do not know about all going out, Cracker. I have had Frintier internet and phone in the past with no problems. Vonage is a different story though, if anyone ants to switch, I will talk them out of it. Vonage is VoIP...runs through a modem attached through internet. If internet is down..so is phone. And 911 through Vonage is sketchy....as far as then knowing where you are if you call from your home phone.
