In 1852, Frederick Douglass gave a speech in Rochester NY that to this day is still considered one of his most poignant and moving speeches that he'd ever given.
He spoke of how to the Amerikkan Slave(as we were referred to at that time), the celebration of the New World's independence was a sham, a hollow mockery to their own prayers & hymns.

I remember when I was young, we'd always have fireworks. The men in my family always had them around. What I don't remember was actually celebrating the 4^th until after my grandmother passed. Never knew why until I got old enough to learn the full story. To this day, I do not celebrate certain things that the rest of this nation does, and the 4^th is one of them.

I feel that in general many people minimize the real results of slavery and then the basic rights denial that followed.

apparently you don't read much, it's the white male that cannot get any resources for those things,

every other nationality that has a minority status has full access to those things and much more.

see what I mean about people needing to change with the times? you are still stuck back in the dark ages of equal rights, thing have actually been changed to the point where a step up has become an elevation of rights above the majority.

Education is free here. Minorities and lower-income people have most of the access to higher education funding.

Blame the illegal aliens for the job thing, not that I think that's true. If you refer to black Americans that dress well and speak well as "sell outs," don't wonder why you don't have a job.

Our president is black. We gave him the keys to the White House. He gets access to Air Force One and I'm sure they probably let him use the pool.
