BlackIce is a good firewall. I don't give much thought to Windows firewalls anymore, since I primarily use Linux. And customers usually have their own ideas on what is "godd" or not. It gets annoying when you recommend good software to a customer and they choose something like Norton because "more expensive is better, right?". Yeah, Norton's firewall is worse than their AV.

As for the Avast/AVG war between us... it'll go on for quite awhile I'm sure Smiley_emoticons_wink

Syber should relate her recent experience with one of the nastier super virii out there. It might scare the panties out of MFs ass. Then again, it probably wont. He's such a tightass, it'd take explosive diarrhea to clear them outta there.

You mean the one that presented as failing optical drives then creamed the O/S when I installed new ones? Yeah.. that was real cute.

You forgot the part about the virus detecting the BIOS changes you made being the cause of it creaming the OS. ::bigg::

Since my recent crash and reformat we now use combination of the following
1)AVG paid version - runs and updates every night
2) Spybot S&D - we update and run it at least 3 times a week
3) CCleaner - we update and run it at least 3 times a week. This is a very good tool IMO.
4) Also, each month on the first Tuesday microsoft releases a new updated malicious virus removal tool. We run it each month. if they are updating it and releasing a new one each month, then I think it is important to run it on my system also.

5) Finally, at least 1-2 times a month I will run the above mentioned programs when the computer is in Safe Mode to double check and see if anything was missed.

I also always stay current on new virus/spyware programs that are being released and seem to provide positive results. You just have to stay current.

While this seems like a lot of work, it is not really when you consider how much time I spend online for work related reasons.

I omitted that part because I didn't think folks here would know wtf I was saying.

Geeze dear, they're not all THAT stupid. I mean, we have a few cud chewing cow brains out there, (Read: Opie & LiqDick), but even Ramsey should know what the BIOS is in general terms, even if she wouldn't know how to safely change any of it or what not.

You can't be serious.

I would bet that maybe 2 or 3 other people in this forum know what the BIOS is.

In detail maybe. But I'm sure everyone with half a brain has seen the prompts for it when starting a PC. You don't give them enough credit. For the most part, we're not a stupid bunch around here. Just obnoxious and rude and free with out opinions.
