In bold below are some details I missed while reading these articles the first time around.
------- <snipped> "A Nebraska State Patrol investigator said in court documents that Lopez acknowledged killing his stepdaughter, and Sioux County Attorney Adam Edmund said the request that Lopez be denied bail was based on those statements and evidence gathered in the case. Edmund also noted that children and witnesses still live in the Lopez household" <snipped> http://www.omaha.com/article/20110926/NE...69884/1009 My comment: There were witnesses?? Evidently not the other children, but who then? The mom? Grandma? Who else lives in that home? --------- <snipped> "Wilson lived with her mother and stepfather in southern Sioux County and attended third grade at Mitchell Elementary School. She was reported missing at 3 p.m. Sept. 21 by her grandmother. According to an affidavit filed with the county court, school officials contacted Wilson’s mother, Amanda Lopez, to inquire about why she was not in class. The affidavit does not indicate what the mother’s response was when she was notified her daughter was not in school. It says only that she told officers she went to work around 11 a.m." <snipped> http://rapidcityjournal.com/thechadronne...z1ZCBGkxSi My comment: So mom went to work about 11am that morning. I haven't read this anywhere else. Sure is starting to sound like Mom was right there when whatever happened to Kerra, happened. If that's true, it's weird then that she was able to go to work, as if nothing was wrong. Unless.. she was in cover-up mode. --------- I'm trying to find the article where I read that Kerra's mom and stepfreakfather met with the school principal at about 2pm that day, and police were called by grandma at about 3pm. WHO does that? Who meets with the school an hour before calling 911? Especially considering that Kerra never actually made it to school that day. Was that call to 911 just an after thought, or something like... 'somebody has to call 911, you do it, no not me, you call em, no way not me, hey i know let's get grandma to call!' Poor lil Kerra..

This was just posted on Kerra's RIP facebook:
MISSINGKerra M. Wilson Members of the press: You are NOT welcome to be there when the bears are dropped off. We are sorry, but this is a tough time for the entire community. If you should arrive, you will be asked to leave. We are sorry, but our children are the most important thing in this situation. I repeat, PRESS is NOT welcome to protect our children. http://www.facebook.com/RIPKerraWilson?sk=wall --------- Not everyone in there feels that way about the press, thank goodness. I can understand not wanting an onslaught of media, every moment of everyday, for everyone and everything involved. However....... this a community effort for Kerra's family, loved ones and friends. IMO, folks might be interested in seeing the love from the community. There sure are tons of families across the USA who would give anything to get even ONE mention from the mainstream media regarding their missing/murdered loved one. The folks putting this RIP Kerra facebook up, ought to rethink their position re the media, IMO. The press seems to be treating this case very nicely, and there will come a day when they move on to whatever else is happening, and news about Kerra's case will likely join the many many others who never get a word mentioned. Sigh.

WORLD-HERALD NEWS SERVICE
HARRISON, Neb. — A Mitchell man accused of killing his 8-year-old stepdaughter will make his first appearance in Sioux County District Court next week. Salvador Carl Lopez, 32, of Mitchell has been charged with first-degree murder in the Sept. 21 death of 8-year-old Kerra Wilson. Lopez will be arraigned in District Court at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Sioux County authorities have not released the results of an autopsy in the girl's death. Lopez was charged with murder two days after she was reported missing. Lopez was also being held on suspicion of sexual assault, but no formal charges have been filed. Sioux County Attorney Adam Edmund has not responded to calls and emails seeking further information in the case. Edmund said last month that all statements from the County Attorney's Office would be made in press releases. However, no further information has been released since Lopez's Sept. 23 arrest. Officials discovered Kerra's body on a ranch north of Mitchell on Sept. 22. She had been reported missing by her grandmother after she did not show up for school. Initially, Lopez had said he had dropped off Kerra at her Mitchell school on the morning of Sept. 21. The search for Kerra involved officials with the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Lopez appeared in Sioux County Court on Sept. 26. He waived a preliminary hearing in the case and his charges were bound over to District Court. Lopez appeared without an attorney during the county court proceedings and an attorney has not yet been listed in his case, according to computer court records. |
