Do you like horror films?
The scariest one I've ever seen was Salem's Lot. I was house sitting for my Grandparents (in the countryside) and I couldn't even walk out to my car after I had watched some of it.

I hate horror movies. They scare the shit out of me. I would rather see a mystery or a chick flick happy ending movie.

I used to like them but the older I got the less I found them appealing. Maybe it was learning there really are "monsters" out there & scary shit really does happen.

Duchess, why don't you ease yourself into the 'horror' genre and start with 'The Ring'. I think you'll find it mostly amusing, with a little tiny bit of suspense. Try it, you'll like it.

The Exorcist (the Director's cut?) has deleted scenes... like Regan doing a damn crab-crawl backwards down the stairs. Yeah, the Exorcist was pretty bad.

The Exorcist was pretty freaky. I remember it scaring the shit out of me, when I was young. The last scene in Carrie, where her hand pops out of the ground still makes me jump.

I've always been a horror film fan, from the Universal classics of the 1930's through to Hammer and the modern slasher films.
I am not much of a fan of the modern torture porn films like the Saw series though.
We need to punish the French, ignore the Germans and forgive the Russians - Condoleezza Rice.

I also really dislike movies that have a lot of rape scenes if they're graphic-"Last House on the Left (rebooted)" had a terrible rape scene. Another movie that comes to mind is "Hostel". I've never watched it but I did see the guide on IMDB-I would NEVER watch that movie! I like older movies too... the original Psycho was always good-and really anything by Hitchcock. I remember watching the Alfred Hitchcock Presents shows and also Hitchcock Hour. I guess the Twilight Zone would be considered horror? I know they weren't all movies, but I really liked the shows.

Hostel was a good movie, I would recommend watching it. It had a little gore, but not too bad.
The Exorcist scared the shit out of me when I was a kid, but I watched it again recently with the kids on Halloween and they thought it was retarded lol.

I'm not a big horror film fan. I don't care for the "slice and dice" movies as I call them. For example, the movie with the guy with razor blades for fingers and the guy with the white hockey goal mask..the first ones were OK, but I don't care for the dozens of sequels. I don't like movies that I have to watch through the spaces between my fingers. I hate when my popcorn goes flying. I scream and jump when the hand comes from no where and grabs the helpless victim....people don't care for that in movie theaters
 Once you've seen one "Saw', you "Saw"them all. I enjoyed Stephen King's "It"..the plot was so creative....I have friends that say it is a total trip if you party a little beforehand. One of my favorites is "When a Stranger Calls Part 2 with Carol Kane..it contains that famous line "We have traced the call and it is coming from from somewhere inside your house"! I've never been able to find Part one though. Though not really a "horror flick", I love the old movie from the 60's "Wait until Dark" with Audrey Hepburn and Richard Krenna. I first saw it as a kid with my parents at a Drive-In....they kept telling us "don't watch this part". Audrey Hepburn plays a blind woman who has (unknown to her) a little rag doll stuffed with heroin and the bad guys want it. It is suspenseful and she comes up with some clever ways to outsmart them. I love all her movies anyway, but it is one of my favorites. I usually hate anything with paranormal/supernatural stuff, but I think I recall enjoying "The Blair Witch Project". And I will usually watch "The Amityville Horror" when it comes on T.V.

I remember watching the shining when i was around ten, scared me shitless, horror movies never really lived up to the name "horror" after that young grim exposure.

I generally prefer atmosphere over graphic content, The Haunting from 1963 is one of my favourites because it leaves everything to the imagination, it uses visual tricks and sounds to create a chilling atmosphere. I do however like the Hellraiser films, for me they are among the most original horrors films of the last few decades, the first three in the series are definitely worth a look, the later sequels are a bit of a disaster.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is good... the one with DeNiro in it
Of course Bram Stoker's Dracula is among the favorites of many... and there's The Shining!

I love horror movies. Foreign horror, ghost flicks in creepy old places, zombies...I'm so there.
