former Penn. State Coach Sandusky charged in child sex case
And the walls come tumbling down...

(CBS/AP) HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Penn State's ex-president and two former top school administrators were ordered Tuesday to stand trial on charges accusing them of a cover-up in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

Prosecutors showed enough evidence during a two-day preliminary hearing to warrant a full criminal court trial for ex-President Graham Spanier, former vice president Gary Schultz and ex-athletic director Tim Curley, Judge William Wenner concluded.

Wenner called it "a tragic day for Penn State University."

State prosecutors allege that the three men failed to tell police about sexual abuse allegations involving Sandusky and then tried to cover up what they knew about it.

The men say they are innocent and were not aware of the allegation against Sandusky in 2001. They say they had believed that Sandusky and the boy were engaged in nothing more than horseplay in a university locker room shower.

Maybe not outright "condone"...but turn a blind eye to - yes, I would definitely believe that.

I can't believe anyone would ignore something like this. I'm not saying I believe these three. But how much of a greedy douche bag do you have to be to look the other way? These three are just as guilty as Sandusky.

Maybe I have too much faith in humanity but who the heck would ever allow such a thing even if it was only a passing thought. Anyone hearing two people grunting and fucking would go in and say something........anything. And there were 3 of them? I would think they would walk in and start kicking some ass.

After reading LC's first post I now believe they were all idiots........

"One of the most compelling and disturbing pieces of testimony in this investigation came from an eyewitness to a late-night sexual assault that allegedly occurred in March of 2002, in the locker room of the Lasch Football Building on the University Park Campus," Kelly said. "Hearing what sounded like sexual activity in the showers of a building that was supposed to be empty, a graduate assistant reportedly observed Sandusky sexually assaulting a naked boy who appeared to be about 10 years old."

The assistant reported the incident to head football coach Joe Paterno, who in turn alerted athletic director Curley, Kelly said.

Instead of reporting the incident to authorities, Curley and Schultz banned Sandusky from having children from Second Mile visit the football building, Kelly said.

I will believe their testimony the way I believed the cigarette execs when they were before Congress claiming they had no knowledge cigarettes could cause cancer.

I agree, I'm back on the "run-em-outta-town train" again.

I thought this would all "go away" once Sandusky was convicted. I am happy to see these three stooges being brought to trial. It would have been four is Joe Pa hadn't up and died.

If these assholes are convicted it may make those in the same positions at other universities sit up, take notice and keep their programs clean of child molestation.

Yep, the convictions and the bad PR could definitely encourage schools to be more diligent in child molestation prevention and reporting.

Also, the astronomical financial burden might discourage anyone with knowledge of such crimes from turning a blind eye, IMO.

Today it was announced that seven of Sandusky's alleged victims (including his adopted son) have now reached settlements with Penn State. There are 24 more cases remaining. The amounts of the settlements have not been disclosed.

Even without the settlement amounts figured in, the cost of the fall out and legal expense to the school is over $50 million.

Sandusky's appeal denied 44

Today, in a 19-page ruling, the Pennsylvania Superior Court found that the trial court had properly instructed the jury.

Sandusky's attorney Norris Gelman said he will appeal the decision to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. He has 30 days to do so.

(When someone on my "Death List" kicks the bucket, Sandusky is a strong contender to take his/her place.)

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State's football team is getting back 112 wins wiped out during the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal and the late Joe Paterno has been restored as the winningest coach in major college football history.

The NCAA announced the new settlement with the school weeks before a scheduled trial on the legality of the 2012 consent decree it will replace.

The new deal also directs a $60 million fine to address child abuse be spent within Pennsylvania and resolves that lawsuit.

The NCAA board of governors approved the settlement, said association spokesman Bob Williams. The Penn State board was discussing the deal Friday afternoon.

The announcement follows the NCAA's decision last year to reinstate the school's full complement of football scholarship and let Penn State participate in post-season play, and comes just days after a federal judge declined to rule on the consent decree's constitutionality.

Jerry Sandusky is a piece of shit who creeps me way out; I'm glad he'll die in prison. If Paterno helped cover up Sandusky's crimes against children (and it sure looks like he did), he deserves to have a black stain on his legacy, in my opinion.

But, I agree with the terms of this settlement between the Paterno peeps and the NCAA. It wasn't cool to punish the student athletes who'd secured victories on the field by erasing those win records just because Paterno coached them; I don't see those victories as related to the criminal case at all.
