i do know i'd like to have one dollar for every tragedy that has happened with guns because of parents who don't secure them properly. loaded guns taken to schools, siblings and playmates shot to death, pissed-off teens impulsively killing their parents or schoolmates. on and on ad infinitum.

Damn, I hate to agree with you Dick, but you are right as Strom Thurman. People choose to be victims instead of educating themselves. I grew up in a house with 6 kids and 4 guns. We were taught firearm safety as children with our toy guns. Dad had us all shooting the Marlin .22 rifle at paper targets by the time we were 5. We graduated to the 410 ga. shotgun around the age of 10 to learn skeet shooting. By 13 we were allowed to shoot the .38 revolver and the 12 ga. at our summer home.
