He really does deserve it; he's worked hard. Plus, he'll be helping other deserving young adults to get what they want. He got offered the position that he interviewed for in San Jose last Friday too. As much as I wanted him closer, we both wanted him to be able to stay near both of his grandmothers. One of those times in life when things turn out just right.
Okay, enough gushing.

Hmm you might be right maggot, might be better to look like a hippy walking barefoot then a drunk hooker hobbling on one shoe with a belly full of arms and legs. I will wade through the construction zone and past the meth clinic barefoot and proud. This kind of stupid shit happens to me all the time.

Well shit. My daughter told me today she wants to kiss somebody. She said she's heading in to 8th grade and she googled it and most kids have had their first kiss by age 11. Fucking google.
I gave her the be picky speech blah, blah but...shit. I'm not quite sure what to do with that nugget of information.

Buy her some condoms and make her an appointment at your favorite obgyn.

Dammit RG!!! Gah!
We also talked about pot and how many kids at school are smoking it. She said she's not interested but I asked her if she would tell me if she tried it. She said "well, duh...of course; I wouldn't try and hide it".
Scratching my head over that one. Does she think I'm going to congratulate her or something?
Weird. Interesting age though IMO.

Good for her/you. You're fortunate that she trusts you implicitly. That'll make hard times easier. You must have done something right.

User, you have a good kid there. If this weren't mock, I'd compliment your parenting.
Instead I'll warn you to not go and fuck it up.

I think (so far) they're both good despite me. I'm farrrrr from a great parent; I think one of the few things I've done right is try for great communication with them. I didn't have that so I've worked really hard at giving them opportunities to talk to me without judging or embarrassing them. I talked to them about sex while they practically stuck their fingers in their ears to shut me up but I didn't want anything to be taboo between us.
Still, not a perfect parent. They're spoiled and I don't expect enough personal responsibility from them which bugs the hell out of me.
Thank you though.

This belongs in the annoying thread but I couldn't find it. WTH is up with the new donation requests where they ask you to sign up for a monthly commitment? Not to mention, the donation requests at the checkout at the supermarket (I've talked with some of the Safeway clerks and they're REQUIRED to try to meet some donation quota), and then there's the people with the buckets outside the store trying to collect more. Oh, and the phone calls where they ask you to commit to some certain amount and then invoice you like it's a BILL that you actually owe.
Fuck them all.
That is all.

Agreed. Years ago, I interviewed for a job at Macy's and they told me during the interview that part of my job would be to sign up at least 10 people a day for a Macy's credit card. FUCK THAT SHIT.
They offered me the job(in Sporting Goods) but the job only paid $7.25/hour...not enough to support myself in the apartment I was living in...and required I buy a $200 black suit I'd need for the job....FUCK THAT SHIT TOO.

I was at the spa waiting to get a mani/pedi & there wasn't enough staff for everyone who was there. I don't have time to wait, that's why I make appointments.
