AUP and Privacy

Do you think about your online privacy? I assume most of us do as we don't use our actual names here.

We, especially me, piss people off at times. A lot of times. There are crazy mutherfuckers in the world. Some of those crazy mutherfuckers in the world don't distinguish between real life and online life.

I have seen people go after each other IRL on my local boards. Some examples: Letters to employers and employee's posts, threats to married people regarding inappropriate posts, "reply all" accidental beaver shot PMs, sharing personal information with other members (cell, address, etc.), cheating and affairs, posting other's personal information on the board, stalker drive-bys, female drama when one them gets drunk and blurts out all the dirty little secrets, people following each other from board to board, threats to real life family members, and a whole lot more.

Do you think your kids will google you someday?
Do they know your username?
Do you leave your browser open when you go to the bathroom?
Do you visit this site, Facebook, other personal sites while you are at work on their network/computer station?

Some things to consider if you haven't already:

1.) Some people are assholes (Flagler comes to mind) who will try to harm you in real life if they can. Some people actually know how to use computers and you would be surprised what they can do...

2.) Did you sign, or are you otherwise bound, to an Acceptable Usage Policy at work? You may want to ask. Some places store all your usage information in servers and can use that to fire you if there is ever a need.

3.) Do you use the same username at more than one site? You may not post a bunch about yourself at one site, but maybe you did in the past. Did someone follow you to a new board? Are you sure?

4.) Do you share a computer with your kids? Because kids are smart and kids are curious. They may know more about you than you think they do. Do you post their pics online for pedos? How much personal information have you posted about them that they could possibly find one day, say you were killed unexpectedly...

5.) Do you post pics with real names or your personal photobucket or other identifying information? Because you might as well save someone the 5 minutes of google time it would take to find your real address.

I don't have a Facebook and I never will because I know businesses use them for hiring/firing purposes. I have seen problems at work because of it. I have also seen real life family drama (stupid as fuck, if you ask me) caused by Facebook, including divorces.

While I don't think anybody here, the regulars anyway, would actually do anything harmful, you never really know. I know there have been some crazy folks blow through here...

Do you ever think about this stuff? Or am I just paranoid?

I try to be cautious but I know I make mistakes every now and then. I think the best defense is to avoid posting anything that can come back and seriously bite you in the IRL. I might post something that could be embarrassing but nothing that could really harm me or mine.

I use my computer on their network, use the same usernime in several places, never leave my browser open. I do use facebook, but its not connected to my user names, I don't think. I gave up chasing wild women, so theres no problem there even though there are several I have slept with on my FB friends. I also walk around armed, so I'm not to worried about any physical attacks, being 6'1" and 250 helps with that some too. I know some crazy motherfuckers, one of the many reasons I run around armed. Veteran of AOL and all the ignorant shit that went on there, knew LOTS of crazy bitches in there, seen many a fist fight, cussin hair pullin matches from there.
Doors locked and alarm on, password protected machines, bout all you can do.

Although, I have never really looked into it much. Is there a way to get your number from online posts? Is that how stars get their phones hacked? Hmm.

I know there is a thing on Facebook that shows where you posted, some kind of map thing. A lady posted something on Facebook when she was supposed to be home sick and the boss could tell she was in Florida. haha

Owning a site is scary. I don't know that I would have the balls. If I did, it sure wouldn't be a Mock site. I wouldn't want to be responsible for my dumb ass. It would be a puppies and kittens site, I think.

Never use the same username unless you are ultra careful. You probably don't post stuff to irritate people like I do, so maybe not a big concern to you.

Why the old noodle on Facebook? Is that okay? Does your girlfriend know you porked them?

Actually she knows I porked pretty much every woman I ever met until her. We don't make a big issue of it, but its there.
Someone would have to be watching my ip address soecifically to see what I post, if they ask I'll show them. I have never been mush of one to talk shit just to irritate people, never been my thing, If I say it in here I will see it to your face. Got in a couple faces about people bullying and picking on people in chat rooms, that was fun.

I'm just amazed by the stupidity of some people. People post (on Facebook) about how their boss is a wanker and they're goofing off at work at that moment (or something to that affect--some congress person's staff members were just fired for that as I recall), people post about affairs, how they're cheating the IRS...and on and on.

My SIL was in a custody battle with her ex and found a dating site where he posted a very unflattering description of himself at least in regards to parenting (loves to party! Let's get it on!!) etc.

Maybe it's a good thing; another opportunity to separate the wheat from the chaff.

I do try to be very careful. I also try not to step on others toes unless they step on mine. I am a loving person but evil if crossed IRL. Fuck what others say on the net. I could care less. I would hope no one here ever took me seriously enough to stalk me. I have means of protection which I won't blab about on Mock. I just do not understand people now days. Kill you over spilled fuckin' milk. As far as FB goes I'm rarely on there because I enjoy Mock much much better.
