Just catching up on the threads.
So, this is late but it's morning somewhere: good morning IMaDick!
My mom is in the hospital; rough week. Could use a good strong drink. Maybe a Bloody Mary - mom's favorite.

Tell your mom normal people call them a bloody mary. I hope she's better soon.

Yeah, we're not so normal, but I fixed my typo anyway.
Thanks user... She's not going to get better, but she's strong and has a good sense of humor, so one day at a time.

When my dad was dying, he demonstrated honor/grace like I'd NEVER seen it before. I was
so proud of his courage and sense of humor....to the end. He wrote an email to everyone he knew when he was diagnosed (about 6 weeks before he died). "No sympathies please, I've had a good roll".
When it was time, my dad gave a thumbs up for that last dose of morphine. He knew.
Some people are amazing.
Best wishes to your mom and you and yours.

Your dad sounds amazing. I am sorry for your loss. I lost my dad 4 years ago and he too was funny and honorable to the end. We are lucky. In my business, I work with people every day who are at the end of life. Not all can refrain from getting bitter and losing their senses of humor.
I'm bringing down the thread! I really should run to the liquor store and at least have a glass of wine.

Write stuff down, HOTD. It's been 12 years for me and I'm starting to forget details. I remember the important stuff, but the details add to the richness of a life.
Luckily, all my offspring have my dad's beautiful blue eyes. Even the one he never got to meet. Nobody is ever really gone if you see them in others.

Sorry to hear about your mother, Hair. Stay strong! I would need a stiff one if I were in your shoes.
